  • Trying to source tickets for Sunday atm BRM. What day/days you headed down sir?

  • Thursday. Wanted to do weekend to see proper hillclimbs but my friend who I'm going with can only do Thursday.

argh. i have aaa passes for the whole weekend, but will probably go friday and sunday (if we can be arsed). i'll be staying close to goodwood for the weekend.

  • awesome. how much better do they look with the guards full of tyre?

Ah well. How much is a weekend pass? Gutted I'm going to miss the proper exciting cars.

Hoping to do Revival properly next year.

  • Saadat. Why don;t you come down on Sunday as well?

  • It's a little pricey....

  • piggy will pay for you

  • he's loaded

  • he drives a range rover

  • weekend pass: 116gbp

    sunday will be fucking mobbed.

  • EXACTLY. Like a boss

  • But there aren't any tickets left are there. That's pretty good for the whole weekend

  • Next year, I will have proper work, I will have money, I want to do Le Mans, N24, Revival, Festival of Speed, at least 1 week and 1 weekend trip to Touristfahrten at 'Ring, and some UK trackdays including Cadwell Park, Donnington, and if one comes up, Brands GP circuit.

  • had fun over the weekend helping mate pull the industrial inline 6 and box from his jag, then stuffing in an ls1 and auto. fits like it was meant to be there. still lots of bits and piece to hook up.

That's a fucking crime right there, putting a builder's engine in a thoroughbred.

You could have a silky smooth V12, nigh on 300bhp in the standard 5.3 tune with potential for more than twice that.

Or if you want an easy modern swap how about the lovely supercharged 5 litre quad cam v8 with 510bhp and 625lbft out of the box?

  • Piffle. The LS1 is a classy lump and parts for it (even in Aus I guess) are dirt cheap and very readily available. It's incredibly flexible and tunable.

Those Jag V12s run hotter than a bradford vindaloo and cost a packet to rebuild.

Pretty sure none of the modern V8s kicked out more than 400hp...though they are a nice engine.

Dirt cheap. Precisely. Fitting one to a Jaguar turns a thoroughbred into a mongrel.

The Jaguar V8s kick out a lot more than 400bhp in their supercharged variants.

The 5 litre supercharged v8 gives 510/625 except in the XKR-S where it gives 550/680.
Unsupercharged is 385 horses which is still more than a crate LS1

  • That depends whose crate though.

  • Anyone know if it would be possible to repair it with the PDR method?
    I don't fancy a respray - especially I paid for a paint sealant only a 3 months ago.

  • Engine rebuild #3 almost done:

  • I love this car more than is right.

Lovely stuff ! Found a real appreciation for these in the last couple of years !

  • So despite just finishing uni and having no real money to spend on frivolities such as automobiles, I'm now the proud owner of this...

After owning mainly french (205's & 106's) and german (mk2 golfs and Corrado) hot hatches I now realise that nothing is quite as precise as a japanese car ! I'm in love.
as they say on teh interwebs:

  • Soon to be mine. Oh yes. Soon.

  • Set of Borbet As, 16x7.5 front, 16x9 rear. 60/40 lower. Respray in Bronzit Beige Metallic. Retrim seats in tan leather, doorcards and steering wheel in black leather, roof lining in black alcantara. Swap engine for new 320D M-sport engine and gearbox setup. Decent sound system, nothing too ott, something with iPod connection and maybe GPS. New black carpet set, set of beige Coco-Mats over.

All when funds allow obviously but hopefully should see steady progress. By the end of it I'll hopefully have an E30 Touring which is a higher spec than a new 3-Series. ULTIMATE DAILY.

  • The E30 tourings are starting to be a bit collectable. Have looked at 318 for a couple of friends go and see them as price is not indicative of condition.

When you lot get cars do you intend to keep them, or they are something to use or something to enjoy for a while and then try to sell on for a profit. Sort off I fancied one or like them for a short while and then later something else draws my attention. Do you look at cars with problems deliberately as they are cheaper and enjoy the challendge of repairing the faults and make the car better.
