What hinge did campag make?
Like phaeton, the v10 tdi I will own at some point for no reason other than v10 tdi. -

Look where they're shopping. Says it all....

The boot hinges on the Phaeton I guess. There was lots of talk about how fancy They were when the car came out.
They are quite fancy.
I had use of a V10 TDi Toerag for a while. It was very whooshy. They're all probably old and rattly by now tho.

Googletime. Damn, they are some fine hinges. Proper hinge porn that is.
Seems a bit odd that VW, with its massive industrial might, had to go to Campag just to get some shiny alloy parts cast though.

My german neighbour has a Phaeton of which he is inordinately proud. It recently got (technically) written off for a prang where you could hardly see the damage. No VW dealer wanted to touch it as they're so incredibly complicated. He ended up buying it back and fixing it himself. It's a fucking tank, makes the local motors look svelte.

If only they did a twin-turbo estate version. Ah well.

It's a W12 if you buy the proper fuel version, that'd require (depending on exhaust port orientation) either two or four turbo chargers.

I could live with 4. If I had to.

How many intercoolers?

Front end done, rear will have to wait until after lel. Painting Bonnets is absolutely nothing like painting bikes and is a monumental pain in the Arse. Had to go and spend a load of money on a new massive compressor to stop gun dropping off whilst going for long sweeps. It's a great compressor though, so win win.

Did a test drive in a v90 yesterday. Buying it today. Oops.

Hah! D4?

Yep. I figure we will own it for 10 years, then replace with fully electric, driverless hover craft, or whatever the future is. It is a family car and our main use for it is driving on motorways to the midlands or up to Scotland to see family. I did have environmental pangs of guilt and thought about the twin engine v60, but we would be using the diesel engine on that predominantly for the type of driving we do anyway. We never drive in London.

We also test drove an xc60, which was pokey, but we didn't get on with at all. Last weekend we tested a v70 and an Audi A6 avant. The v90 is miles ahead of them all. It's like a magic carpet.
did any manufacturer get it as wrong as ford did in the eighties?
