How did you buy it? I've seen various posts on the subject about leasing them, the standard version is £1,600 deposit and then £270/month for two years, for example.

But you say you'll be keeping yours for ten years - did you buy it outright?

Sure a coachworks could pull it off given a decent donor.

Preferably an Alpina.

Bought it outright. There are good finance options on the Volvo website.

I like the look of the R-Design, but fear that it'd take away the magic carpet aspect.

Ours is the momentum with family and winter packs and apple play. It is fairly entry level, but still has nice spec. The R Design has the sportier trim and different suspension right? Go and test one. I will be amazed if you are disappointed.

Had a bit of spare time this weekend so set about cleaning up the badly painted rocker cover and removing the 2 heavy tow hooks from the rear. Legend has it MX-5's had these on all 4 corners when they were originally shipped over and strapped down.

I found myself looking at Z3 M Coupe's again the other day, the whole idea of the 2 door estate is one that I really like.

I suggested the Z3M months back, except I'd get a 3.0 from Germany because LHD is cool.

Did you make sure to do the rocker cover bolts up in the correct order, and to the correct (very low) torque?
