  • Has anyone used easycar club or similar car sharing service?

Any horror stories or are they as easy as the website looks?

  • Yes. Sometimes it's great. We've hired vans and people carriers through it before. We have had a fair bit of trouble with people saying their car is available and then changing their minds though. Tends to happen a lot with anything that is slightly nicer than the average.

  • Where can I get this strap from?

  • probably the watch thread?

  • Hah, yes, that might be an idea.

  • My new toy. Great fun, a bit thirsty though

  • So this is becoming a valeting forum :)

Saying that I a member of a valeting forum....

  • Anybody got recommendations for a super cheap head unit? Only requirement is that it can take input from USB or aux or bluetooth.

  • they are all super cheap now.

I've got one in my garage you can have for 20 bucks...

  • I have the halfords trade card

  • I've not bought anything from them for a while now, but the Halfords Professional range used to be seriously good value. Spanners and ratchets have been absolutely the equal of any SnapOn or MAC stuff I've used. Not so mad about the screwdrivers.

  • I got a Kamasa socket set for my 16th ... awesome present...still using it 37 years later!

  • Halfords give 10% discount to British Cycling members and iirc to car owner club members too.

  • Jesus wept

  • Ok, can't upload a picture. Someone really fucked the lock nut up on my wheel, has anyone had any joy with the removal tools?

  • just take all the others off and drive it for a bit #bicyclelogic

  • Seicento, who was ever gonna nick these alloys? The outer edge of the bolt is just next to those holes so I reckon there's about a five mil gap to the wheel.

Saw that suggested elsewhere Neil, if I didn't live on a massive hill I'd be tempted

  • Go to one of those part worn tyre places and they should be able to remove it.

  • Don't know but sometimes yes.

  • Can't drive the bloody thing.

Free car in turning into a massive ball ache shocker

  • Do you mean need to take the wheel off before you can move the car?

As @lynx says, a garage will whip it off easily, often by welding a nut to the lockable one, rarely with the removal tools.

  • That type if you get a 12 point 18mm socket they are just tight enough to bang over the outside and grip it enough to remove it, provided it hasn't been overtightened.
If you can get a helper to bang the end of the breaker bar with a hammer to shock the bolt as you are undoing it it can help.

  • The removal tools usually need an air gun to get the torque needed.

  • One of the brands that have really cheapened up. :(

  • Thanks but I'll have to skip as I'm considering selling it now, I've been having some neck trouble since driving this thing and I've realised I can't sit up straight unless I open the sunroof because my head's on the ceiling :/

Gonna look for something bigger, probably a volvo or merc of a similar age.

Can get insured on a 190e for £600 less a year.
