  • You reckon speedo was over-reading?

146 was from the Garmin, dunno how accurate they are at that sort of speed to be fair, more accurate than the speedo though I imagine.

no, ijust thought without hippo you'd get another couple

  • Hah, true.

I've done 1,400mph on public transport.

    This is actually true.

  • I wish I could have gone on Concorde! Was booked to fly the Christmas after it crashed

  • Max speed on a public road? I plead the fifth...

  • I wonder what my tyres are rated to.

EDIT: W, or 168mph. I imagine they'd be unhappy with that for too long though.

  • ^google has all the answers!
Buying fully adjustable suspension set up for the mini tomorrow! Release the camber!!!

  • Can you rent a car at 17? Going to geneva next week to see some friends and would be useful

  • Most places have a minimum age of 23 or 25

  • Fuck.

  • If I had 7k burning a hole in my pocket I so would:

    An autobahn-stormer!

    I keep looking at these:

    You are Dennis Wilson aicmfp.

    this for me

Bobbo had a DS. I think he exchanged it for something else.

177 in a 996 Turbo on a notorious section of road on the way to Reading that's straight for two miles.

  • When I was a kid I played tennis with a man who probably had done Mach 2, to introduce a new unit of measure here.

  • 177 in a 996 Turbo on a notorious section of road on the way to Reading that's straight for two miles.

Whilst it's not the fastest I've been driven, I've always had a sense of pride in getting an indicated 145 out of £1200quids worth of G60 Corrado. Cheap speed.

  • I was never tempted by cheap speed, even in the mid-nineties.

I know it's a toy and you want to treat it to nice shiny things, but what exactly is wrong with the way the standard Mini handles?

  • flashing temperature light in VR6 Golf - stupid me on way to work the other day assumed it was oil so topped up with a litre of stuff from a petrol station - no more flashing light - flashing light back on this morning, then I realised it's not the oil light

coolant I guess? I didn't check level - have to go back outside

Happened in my old V6 Golf, just a sensor failure

    Erm...

  • I actually prefer the look of the T25, it's got that boxy thing g'wan.

T25 DOKA with a WRX engine would be ideal.

  • Top speed for me was marginally over 180, 3 up in one of those new Skylines. Reworked to give around 600bhp (not mine or me driving either) I tried to Endomondo the run, but it had a freakout.

    fancy a project....

  • Heh, I saw that one on eBay last night, however a) I have to finish the house first before taking on another project and b) the Mrs would want to see the Volvo go if we got another vehicle.

    b) is a bit of a problem as I suspect that there is no way I'd ever get back the money I've put into that car. In many ways it's now new, but it's also a 17 year old car.

  • Yes, but then I can't hear what they're saying on Radio 4 unless I turn the radio up really loud.

It'll probably consist of "Eddy Grundy, get your filthy pigs outta my yard!". Then Jenni Murray will talk about some stuff. Radio 4 in a nutshell.

Frankly that red horrorshow looks like it's only good for the scrapheap. I really fancied the red Bay crewcab for £4k but I have similar missus / house related issues....

Nice. My dad had one of the lowest static 190E 2.0s in the country back in the early 90s. Proper 90s Euro look going on with Zender bodykit and the small, wide, deep wheels. Black AMG 5 spokes with machined stepped lip. Bright white too, not that dodgy cream colour.

I always remember a phrase my dad said, there were a bunch of dads having a very middle class conversation about people hogging the outside lane on the motorway, he said, "I don't have that problem, when there's a low, wide, Mercedes filling your rear view mirror, and it's coming at you at 110, you get out of it's way!"

Double cab pickups are where it's at. Always wanted one as a teenager so you could take mates and bikes around the country and hit up different skateparks.

    this for me

That blue... I like the whitewalls though.

    i did 145 in a 458 on a public road

    458 what?

177 in a 996 Turbo on a notorious section of road on the way to Reading that's straight for two miles.

Isn't that the story of the person with the highest speed caught on UK roads?

I know it's a toy and you want to treat it to nice shiny things, but what exactly is wrong with the way the standard Mini handles?

Nothing, but then who wants to settle with "pretty good"? If you're going to go B road storming or do trackdays, you're going to eventually reach the limits of handling. The suspension design is also 50 years old, bringing it into the 21st century is no bad thing.

The guys who went racing didn't run standard suspension, neither do any of the race series now. Out of the factory the tolerances were good old Rover/BMC quality (read: massive), and think how they've been affected over the years, adjustable suspension allows you to bring the settings back to what was originally intended, or go beyond that and go more aggressive.

    Erm...

TBF, fbc did say a new unit of measure, Mach rather than MPH.

My friend has been building a bay with a WRX engine for 4 years now. Maybe he'll finish it one day...

It's annoying how effortlessly quick those are. A guy I know raced a California in his stock GTR 2 up with my friend in the passenger seat and did surprisingly well. Turned out it was Jay Kay driving the California who seemed a bit too happy at the whole situation. I think that guy just loves cars.
