So what about a policeman on duty? Just because he's on duty it doesn't mean he's armed and easily able to defend himself?
What would have happened if that had been a policeman yesterday ran down and murdered?
The police are there to keep the peace. The army, pretty much the exact opposite. I don't think it's a helpful comparison.
It's tenter hooks, by the way.

if your changing your life to accomdate them, they've won though, right?
isn't that 'terror'?
i think i would say having bits of me blown off in the street or what have you and becoming a tangible symbol of a terrorists power to inflict mortal damage on people is far more a loss than say, having to change my route to work every so often or not stepping out the house in full regalia, but that's just me.

Every time I read EDL I think of this.
Sparky and spenceey should be familiar.

Why is Cameron cancelling a foreign engagement to chair a Cobra meeting because of one nut with a knife? The irony is in trying to play the tough guy he couldn't look any more smalltime if he tried.
I was pretty confused by this. From my experience of homeland terrorist threats (i have 3 series of spooks on DVD), there must be intelligence pointing to further threats. A series of uncoordinated discriminate attacks etc.

That depends if they're chaffed or not. -

Sorry for getting caught, doesn't really apologise to the cyclist she hit, moans about social networks being so open for people to catch her out being a cunt.
Pretty sure we've covered this in one of the non-news threads.

ffs her career is not almost over because she tweeted.
Her career is almost over because she's clearly of a mind that hitting a cyclist/road user then fucking off is not only an acceptable thing to do but she's also conceited enough to broadcast the fact to the world for some kind of vanity-wank social reinforcement from equally thick clarksonesque gaggle fucks.
why no mention of her tweeting images of her car going at 95mph and doing it 'every day'? kind of undermines her claims to be a responsible driver.
Smelly pirate hooker.

I thought her account was great and kudos for doing somethign to help. I think that sums up a typical 'British' response to terrorism. Takes it all in their stride until it messes up the buses at which point it becomes an issue.

That interview is a disgrace. How soft a ride does he give her?
She's a disgrace too. What is is about people being incapable of taking responsibility for their actions and actually being able to say sorry.
That's the thing that invariably makes me so angry if ever I'm involved in an incident. If it's my fault I'll say sorry. If the other person is at fault and they apologise that's the end of it.

Seems pretty crazy - it's a very interesting account, but difficult to know what her motivation for talking to them like that, unless it was some kind of shock...

In important news, the Police are now threatening the Cheese Sellers
What did he say?
I think it was “Blessed are the cheesemakers.”
Aha, what’s so special about the cheesemakers?
Well, obviously it’s not meant to be taken literally; it refers to any manufacturers of dairy products. -

they were talking about raising the security level from " ruh roh shaggy " ( orange ) to " oh jesus christ fenton " ( red ) on the news last night
they must think there are more attacks to come ... but by the looks of those crazies from yesterday they probably couldn't orgainse a piss up in a brewery ... ( not that they would be organising a piss up due to their non alcohol drinking tendancies ) ... but i think you know what i mean
they don't seem part of an organised group, just a couple of hotheads -

I'm not sure that the security level is nothing but a PR exercise though - it has no correlation with "terror" incidents, arrests, charges, or convictions.
There is a perceived correlation with increased security measures / theatre, and legislation, and political posturing and PR. And other bad news being slipped into the background.
Someone turn to page 10 of the paper, and see what is happening that might actually impact our lives.

I find it interesting to see the chinese whispers thing in play..
Everyone was saying it was a machete and that the victims go decapitated. But that woman Ingrid Kennet Says that the head was firmly in place and that the victim seemed like a viable patient.
It is clear from the photos now too, that it was a normal kitchen knife not a fucking machete!
Can I recall my previous argument from the memes thread about normal kitchen knives being way more dangerous than guns? If the attackers had a functioning gun on them instead of knives, I can pretty much guarantee they would not have sucessfully killed the target.
-

You can pretty much guarantee that after hitting the victim with the car, they wouldn't have been able to kill him with a gun?
Really?
^^Yes, absolutely. Every cop in NI should fly a PSNI flag above their house because otherwise the IRA have won.
