Interesting though that one BBC programme investigates another. Cannot imagine that kind of thing at any of the newspapers that are exploiting this to attack the BBC. Or even, most of the time, between newspapers which have informal agreements not to dish the dirt on each other.

I'm quite sad about the analog TV switch off. misplaced sentimentality, but still.

At least digital tv is actually better. DAB radio is a downgrade to me, and certainly far from optimal (it's standard was frozen before audio codecs were mature so we're stuck with obsolete technology). The latest wheeze is to define all internet radio as digital radio, then switch off analogue radio once total digital listening reaches a certain percentage... Aside from unimpressive sound, i hate how much power DAB receivers use. I've got an FM radio that runs for days off 2 AAA. Battery DAB radios are too spendy for me, and still get nowhere near that battery life. grrrr.

yes definitely. I'm a soppy sentimentalist about many stupid things but as you said analog radio is actually better in many ways. cue my dad bemoaning today's kids and how youngsters don't make their own radios anymore.
