Well to be fair i am not a ROG fan, he alway seems to bottle it when the chips are down on teh big stage - IMO as soon as Ireland bin him and get Staunton on the better.
I am kinda with Markyboy on the fan front - i went to one of the leading rugby playing public schools in the country, where all that matter was whether the 1st 15 won or lost - everything else was secondary, including academia, and the training was near enough professional level. I always loved playing, even going on to play some club rugby, but hated the rugger bugger side of things.
Having said that, i have a fair few friends who are top professionals, and all of them do not remotely resemble a rugger bugger - most dont even drink, and the training routines they put themselves through are pretty insane
Forgetting the two Munster Heineken cup finals in the last four years and the grand slam this year then?
Which school did you go to?

Anyone watch league? I used to be well into it for a while - i still think the best rugby player of either code out there is Darren Lockyer, the basic skills of the NRL boys is something to behold - would love to have seen him try Union.
Anyway check this try

I think that players around him account for those victories - if Ireland had a true world class fly half over the last decade, then they would have been far more of a force. Obviously hes not a bad player, but aside from his kicking he brings very little to the table - and defensively there may as well be a gap at 10 when hes playing.
As for school it was in the middle of North Yorkshire and begun with an A.

dude... andrew johns.. no argument
afterthought: but maybe not across both codes... but definitely just for RL
i don't think we should have a best player category across the two codes though.. they is separate for a reason -

We'll have to agree to disagree on Ronan. I think he offers more than simply kicking..
Did you have fun with the monks? ;)
-
• #208
Lol - always an interesting experience to be had when there's a monk round every corner.
As for Ronan, i am a big fan of Irish rugby, and for me the lack of a play making flyhalf has been the missing link that has prevented them becoming a great team, but to be fair to Ronan that's not his fault - i am just amazed that no one has really challenged him for the shirt in all that time. I have to say most of my Irish mates view him in a similar vein to the way English footie fans view Heskey - your the first person i have met in a long time who has offered him a defence!

You obviously haven't met anyone from Munster ;)

That's cringe-worthy stuff! In fairness to O'Gara, he did come good in the Wales game, despite pretty poor form throughout the Six Nations.
The less said about this the better...

this can be kind of true, sadly.. i used to work in an office full of them.. they were always yelling 'run at me' at each other... bloody weirdos
Haha, that's like the pricks who "play" golf shots with umbrellas or "bowl" balls of paper into the waste paper basket as if they're Shane Warne.

Anyone else watch the match? Pretty exciting match in the end after a scary first half..
-
• #214
shocking result....
-
• #215
For the SA game? Take away the try resulting from a huge knock on and the try resulting from a forward pass and the scoreline would be 24-11 to Sarries..

oh, i get it, you meant those that are still playing... yeah johns retired for a neck injury, then got busted with ecstasy and admitted to be at it most of the time during season.. big revelation, pfft..

some of the NRL boys are also pretty skilled in the bedroom, they say... charming bunch of blokes :/
not.

You could say that... But also if the ref wasnt so shocking, maybe the boks wouldve won. But im not. It is all just a sad state of affairs for the boks.

First half was ok but you can't really read to much into games like these.
Juan de Jongh played well I thought. -

At least we didnt have Ras Dumisani singing again! Small blessings...

Who was it saying NZ were the worst for blaming the ref earlier? Seems it's a common theme in the southern hemisphere.

• #222
Didn't some fella win £250k for kicking the ball on to the bar?
-
• #223
If the ref wasnt shocking, and Derick Hougaard had a decent playmaking bone in his body then the score would have been a real humiliation for the boks.
The Leicester match was a real cracker, great to see these touring matches back in the schedules these days.
Without wanting to get into a political debate, the Saffas really have fucked themselves with this Quota shit - they could put together a better second string side with the players who have been snubbed and now play abroad than the one they sent out last night.
Anyway i am no sarries fan, but in Shalke Brits they have made the signing of the season imo

the english blokes behinds supporting the Sarries where whining that they wanted to call him a cab home
The truth is, Vinyl is right, if he could actually get any of them over as he planned, it wouldve been worse. Im not blaming anyone here wibble, im discussing it like you are. My my my, you are confrontational. The ref was bad for both sides
Something is wrong with my team, and im hoping its because we're trying to give the younger players exposure to the international scene.
My highlight was the £250,000...
I am a firm believer in all sports that playing in a slick looking kit boosts performance, with the opposite being true when playing in some horrific disgrace of a design - i was hoping that Englands return to all white from their previous red slashed monstrosity would prove this theory, but als it seems not.
As for the purple - meh
