    sorry.

  • ahhhhhhhh what? which posts? i are confuse.

    • shhh, me too, I just went ' Ahhhh' to pretend i knew what was going on !
  • linky?

i think i got that swimsmooth overgliding thing from th elats page stuck in my head last time i went swimming and tied myself in knots (not literally) trying to eliminate any dead spots in my stroke.

i think i need to get someone to film me.

Other half got me a little camera for xmas, it records under water too. We should all get together and record ourselves. Its only little though, i havent tried it out yet, bit hard recording yourself whilst swimming !

so much for taking it easy. What age are you eyebrows ?

  • Right, im off for a 7 am-er...................... eurrrrgh

  • I'm 24. The thing is I took that at warm up pace, as in- I started swimming for a warm up of 20 laps, and just continued- it helped that I had someone to tag on to in another lane.

  • ooooh. well up for the recording thing. might have a job getting underwater filming allowed in a public pool without setting off the paedo alarm though. it's health and safety gone mad stew.

    24, I remember that age................ ahhhhh.... 24 huh ! Young man ! :D

  • stop rubbing your thighs nick nack.

Well i'd have to sneak it into the pool, like one does with the bottle of vodka (not vodka in the pool though).

Like I say, it has a small screen. Not sure how good it would be.

  • hmmm. i wonder if we could arrange it with a pool. i can imagine it would be a bit hard to get round though.

don't you get filmed as party of your red top sessions tiswas?

  • stop rubbing your thighs nick nack.

What ??? Give an ole bird a break ;)

  • 7am 30m pool (actually 33 yds)

3300m maintenance swim. Having a couple of days off now. 4-4.5k on Sunday.
My little one is 2 tomorrow ! :) Party on Saturday - well you know, cake, sweets, biscuits, crisps all that crap.....I keep eating so many sweets lately. Havent had any alcohol for about 7 weeks now !!!

  • nice one dude. have fun saturday too.

going for an easy 3k(ish) placeholder tonight. somewhere between 45mins and an hour i should think. i lose track, as long as the first 2.5k is around 40 mins i usually ease off and cruise for another 10 15 mins before getting out.

need to start upping the distances from next week though. the 5k swimathon looms again.

I tried to take note of my stroke on Tuesday evening, it was definitely just in the negative numbers......???

Does that make me a swinger !!? :D

    Im definitely not a glider.

Now, im not sure... this is gonna bug me now.............. how the bloody hell do you count it yourself ?

  • My swim ended at 112 laps today (excluding warm up/down). Tried a really hard speed orientated set though- so mixed emotions.

  • Sunday evening, another Treacle pool day ! :(

    1500 - fc
    1000 - fc
    500 - fc
    500 - back
    500 - pull
    250 - fly drills
    250 - swimdown
    4.5k

Even though this was slow today, i still would have managed around 84 mins for 5k. If i can do that on the day, i will be very happy, but i mus'nt get my hopes up, other facters on day will include other lane swimmers and what their speed is etc.....

  • urgh. i need to be getting over an hour and 3.5k from this week really.

might get to london fields tonight now the clocks have gone forward.

sure i'll be the only one to have thought of that....

  • dammit! i just paid £30 for pair of £14 goggles.

wanted some new tyr tracers (my favourite of all the gogs i've tried over the years) but in clear. seems like they're only available in the states so i bought some of ebay for $13. a bargain at £8.

hit "commit to buy" then realised only shipping options were $31 and $48. *facepalm$44 (£30) goggles. great.

still, i've probably spent more than that trying other things that don't work for me over the last few months. at least i know these things are leak free, comfortable, scratch resistant and last about a year.

think i'll leave the order in.

  • right then. swimmers ear. any tips of how to avoid it / get rid of it? Currently using some kind of olive oil spray thing:

    http://shop.swimmingwithoutstress.co.uk/sws/swimming-goggles/earol-swim-swimmers-ear-prevention.shtml

It's the best i've tried so far, ear plugs doesn't work at all for me. This keeps it at bay for about 6 months, but it's now back for the 4th time, no fun

  • sorry mate. no idea, never suffered.

i used to drive myself mad trying to flush water out of my ears for hours after a swim. i was for forever doing that demented sideway headbang dance to try and stop the whooshy ears-full-of-swimming pool sensation.

but for some reason i don't have that problem any more. could be the way I swim now or maybe just using a cap over the ears is enough?

there are a few products on the swimshop website for it. once it's cleared up maybe start using earplugs too?

  • I suffer horribly, always have. I have a rolling prescription for antibiotic ear drops and have been using for about a year now, in that time I haven't had it bad so maybe worth going to the GP.

  • I think a rolling prescription is the way forward for me too, i can tell when it's coming about a month or so in advance, then it's just a matter of time before my ears are blocked. If I could just have drops at hand I could stop it right away instead of waiting for it to get really bad

Pondered a swimming cap too is it'd stop some of the water to get in, but I'd rather swim without
