Just a fizik airone copy.

Airone's shred non-lycra shorts and non-lycra shorts shred Airone's.. I find they hardly last any time at all

My Romin is a trouser shredder too.

I've mentioned elsewhere in this thread that I've got a bike with an old Arione which I can ride all day long and an almost new (second hand off ebay) identical saddle that I get uncomfortable on in a couple of hours of riding. As far as I can tell, both bikes are set up the same.
So, do these saddles wear in over time? It does seem to be more comfortable with every ride. -
• #756
the layer of padding gets compacted over time yeah.
-
• #757
I've just been comparing the 2 saddles and the old one seems to be a fair bit softer so hopefully the newer one will go the same way. I'll report back in a month or 2.

Put an old Turbo on the pub bike, pretty damn comfortable angled up a bit (the only way I can get it without sliding off the front with this damn campag seatpost!)

I went with a Fizik Gobi XM kium rails for my hardtail MTB. It's so comfortable it feels like suspension - amazing. Incipient WW tendencies then came to the fore and I got the top of the range carbon hull and rails version when one came up cheap on ebay. It must have been made by Torquemada - akin to sitting on a board.
I'm getting another kium version for my road bike.

Heard a snapping noise going over a speed bump (not particularly hard) this morning.
It's a Romin Comp, the cheapest cro-mo railed version, had it about a year. Currently investigating the warranty situation. Anyone else snapped a Romin? I ride with a bag but I'm 81kg - no featherweight but well within any rider weight limit for it, I'm sure.
-

81kg fairly normal, I'll have a quick glander at work to find out more about the Specialized saddle warranty.
Plus the fact it look very well look after helped your case too.
-
• #762
Yeah, it's not taken any abuse. Purely road riding / commuting.

i like the combination of glans and gander
i had toupe saddles snap on me after a year or so, now migrated to fizik, but on one of them the padding is starting to go and the covering has split
sort of understand why some people stick with their brooks saddles, due to them lasting for years and that they can be repaired

^^^^I had a Comp Gel snap in exactly the same place. Took it to my nearest Specialized stockist. They called a few days later to say Specialized had sent a replacement. I went down to be handed a woman's Jett or somesuch. They said that's what Spesh had sent as my replacement. I explained that I found that unacceptable so they happily gave me an identical Romin Comp Gel from their own stock.

Good to know, thanks.

Cracked mine like this in march on the cobbles at Tour of Flanders, didn't notice at the time (things were a bit 'numb'down there)... But did when I got home. Replaced it with another and moved the cracked one onto another bike.. Has been fine ever since, just has a little bit of extra 'give'. Will probably break completely at some point in the next year though!
Have to say that despite that, I've been incredibly impressed with how well they put up with abuse and how resilient the covering is, compared to Fizik saddles, which seem to fall apart after 6 months.

Plus they are damn comfortable. I rode a bike with an Arizone on last night whilst wearing a bag, was unbelievably uncomfortable, can't believe I used to have them on all my bikes.
-
• #768
Bottom of the beholder I think- I've put over 3,000 miles on one Arione and it's still going strong- little to no signs of wear at all.
I also find it very comfortable.
My carbon fibre one, less so.
-
• #769
Absolutely.
The bike I was riding was my track bike, which I am normally very happy on without a heavy bag - so the change in position (mainly on the tops, instead of drops on track, thus widening the sit bones) and added weight of multiple locks etc etc to blame no doubt.
Have to stand firm on their durability though, I have destroyed 4-5 airones in the last 2 years. Expensive.

Does anywhere stock this Flite Flow? Seems to be a new model, maybe.
Second one down:

^ mm.. looks good, could get on with that.

My thoughts exactly.
I quite like the SLR XP Flow I have on the road bike but the shell flexes a surprising amount. Maybe a bit too much. Would quite like to give one of these a prod in a shop as shape-wise it looks ideal (i.e., a bit wider at the back than an SLR).

My favourite narrow saddle is the legendary B89N (ok, not legendary, but should be!)
Had a Spoon and Rolls in the past, didn't get on with them.
My favourite big saddle is the B193, tri-sprung.

Looking for a saddle for my new Fort HHSB Low Pro build..
I'm considering the Fizik Gobi or the Selle Italia C2.
Or maybe even a Fizik Arione if I can stretch to the cost. What do you lot recommend?

Charge Spoon to begun with, they're cheap as chips and very comfortable*.
*varies on arses.
Just bought a Planet X Superlight saddle. Been out on one ride so far, but find rather soft and indistinct (if that makes sense). It doesn't have that kind of firm platform feel that a decent racing saddle usually has. Anyone riding on of these? Should I perservere, is it a case of tweeking it a bit?
I like the toupe/Romin, but this is for my hack bike. Might end of going for a toupe/Romin or other spesh equivalent if I can get on with this.
