Cheers Branwen, ordered one! Got a white one from TM for a good price and really liked it, seemed to fit my undercarriage much better than the SLR I've been using. I decided to be a tart and order a black one though. The white one can go on the pub bike.

I've just bought one of these. Let's see how this works out.

I have one of those for sale. Very nice but I found the suede covering to be too grippy when in lycra so I went back to the regular Regal-e. They look fantastic, mind.

It does look nice. Does the suede not gloss-up a bit?
-
• #1131
I'm sure it would if you rode in jeans on it for long enough (it has definitely started to smooth over a little, though I only rode it for a couple of weeks) but I found it uncomfortable and it felt like it was going to damage my nice-but-pricey bib shorts. It really is very grippy.
For a while I was considering getting it recovered in perforated leather by Busyman but I couldn't really justify the expense.

Will defo gloss up.
Not sure I get this 'one saddle for my track bike' business. I realise a track set up places a lot more pressure on your undercarriage but surely you ride for a lot longer on a road bike, so over time I would've thought the same numbness would show up.
I desperately need to sort my saddle situation out. Tried all the Fizik's, including the Versus. Concor's suit fine for short rides but anything beyond an hour and it gets tough. Currently on an older Selle with a cutout which is fine but I'm hearing a lot about the Romin's - usually dislike anything specialized but may make an exception for my ass's sake.

Not for me. I spend very little time in the drops on the road, so the pressure spots seem to be in different areas. With all the different positions, stop/starting, freewheeling, etc. 3/4 hours on a Planet X / Arione saddle is no problem, but an Intermediates session at Herne Hill maybe including 30+ laps constantly in the drops, with a more aggressive set-up, is a different matter. Tingles!

fair enough. i'd like to try a superflow...looks like the ultimate cut out. sorry if this had been dealt with loads but where has got a decent saddle returns policy? anywhere online? anyone got any experience with the selle flite max or SLR max. doesn't the SLC just look odd without the join?

How long till dildo saddle is posted?

I currently have a B17 Sprinter on one of my singlespeeds, 114mm width!!!!!! Surprisingly not as horrifying as it sounds. It's the traditional saddle method that makes it work.

i so want to try that out
Do not want.

Think of the skid marks that will generate.

contemplating getting a unicanitor for my new bike. will it be really uncomfortable? i'm consoling myself with the idea that if it gets too much i could just swap it with the saddle currently on my beater, or maybe even get the unicanitor padded and covered somewhere (although i have no idea where you get that sorta thing done)

I'm struggling to find a saddle which i find comfortable.
I have tried numerous saddles from BLB, Charge and cheap-ish Brooks saddles but cant seem to find a favorite.
Can anyone recommend one for me? i know they are mainly down to personal preference.
-
• #1145
Could be that you're trying (relatively) cheap saddles?
-
• #1146
^ disagree. I have a £180 Fizik curve which isn't as comfortable as the standard Arione. It's a balance of shape, materials and weight.
-
• #1147
Totally. But an Arione costs almost £100. The priciest BLB saddles are about £60?
-
• #1148
get one second hand, it's worth paying more for contact points anyway (saddle, shoes, bars)

I've tried some of the Brooks saddles in the £100 or so range but had no luck still.
A saddle swap update. It appears as though the saddle-with-cut-out I got from Whitebait has cured my numb-nut problem on the track bike. Cheers Whitebait!
So that's: road bike = Arione or Concor, track bike = cheap saddle with cut-out. I'll probably have a Planet X team saddle going spare then (not to mention a very well used Rolls) but I'll try one more track session just to make sure.
