I know it's not a messenger bag, but if anyone's looking for a small shoulder bag I picked up one of these for £15 yesterday
http://www.uniqlo.com/us/CPaGoods/itemcode=070936
fits a pair of shoes, lightweight jacket, d lock and tools in it nicely. great for carrying a few day things when you don't want a large bag

Been looking at the mission workshop vx bags, does anyone know if these bags have a padded back?
-
• #1204
Not sure about the VX series, I just got a regular Vandal and it has padding and a bendy panel on the back. Threw 20kg of shopping in there today without bothering to stack or line anything up and didn't feel a thing digging into me on the ride home.

Mission workshop VX messenger bags don't have a padded back - unfortunately.

Looking for a London based bag maker to take on a project for me. Scott's out, as he's working on new stuff. Are there any others?

Belk? Not sure if they are still in business though.

I've just seen that the Ortlieb Vario Bag is reduced from £109.99 to £65.99 at Cycle Surgery. Looks like a pretty good deal.

I've been rummaging through the depths of "general" and "classified". Ebay and amazon. and have come out with nothing.
I was wondering if someone on here could make me/does make reasonably priced messenger bags.
I'm looking for something £70>
I've found some alright medium ones - but they wouldn't fit my needsI want a X-Strap, right shoulder set up W/ padding
and then velcro closure and buckle closure
One large compartment and two zipped small compartments under the flap
sturdy and waterproof are key
Not sure about sizing 100% but i'm looking for something to carry a lot - a lot of the timeat the moment i'm using a tennis bag which is horrible. I tied the strap into a knot so it will sit further up my back, that kills all over my chest and shoulder areas. Slips when i'm on the drops. the side pockets are duck-taped together so small thing wont slip out. last time i had my A3 books in it while it was raining - i had to dry them out for a good hour and then re do most of my art work.
so i've had enough - i need another messenger bag (regret selling my manhatten portage haha)
if anyone can help me that, it would be greatly appreciated

That's quite a list of requirements for not much money...

Have a look here. Got some good reviews from fellow cyclists here.

Sorry that was incredibly unhelpful but yeah, haven't seen anything large enough for A3 and waterproof at under £70.
Had considered linking you to Big Top, as above, but they're no way near big enough to fit an A3 folder.
-
• #1217
yeah i did look at big top but yeah like you said its not really A3 friendly
maybe if i forget about the x strap??
a padded strap would be alot less -

Think about the time and money involved in making a bag like you just described...x strap, right shoulder, padded, strong, waterproof, zipped pockets etc, and then ask yourself whether you would be prepared to make that bag yourself for such a small profit?
-
• #1219
I would say buy second hand if you want all that for that price.
-
• #1220
You could try www.trakke.co.uk - they might be able to help.
-
• #1221
They are beautiful handmade bags but are more like £270 rather than £70.....
Big X Top are the ones for you at that price even if they don't fit A3 they are amazing quality and amazing value. -

Royal Mail Postbag.
Water proof Liner/bivvy bag
Home made X-strap. -

I've posted about this guy before, but White Stripe Bags does a few different sizes of messenger bags. If it's like my tool roll it will be waterproof and well priced.

Oops, so they are. Ignore me.

yeah very true
take away the x strap and say £100
more realistic??
Not sure of a repost of if the guy making the bags is on here, but I stumbled across this one man bag making enterprise via etsy:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/ArchitecturalBikeBag?ref=seller_info
£120 for a bag doesn't seem too bad to me.
