my left shoulder isn't in the best of shape so after a while with a heavy load on it, it starts playing up
hmmm
wouldn't someone making one be cheaper? (thats what i thought anyway) because obviously with a branded bag they would have to worry about shipping, advertisement, paying a relatively large amount of workers etc.
but if someone was making one they would have to cover materials and then add a bit on top extra to make a profit and to cover there time....or am i just speculating haha -

No.
You will not find a handmade/custom/craft messenger bag for £100 pounds.
Couldn't you just have a go yourself? I suggested up thread, how you could reasonably quickly modify existing products - or take a look at the DIY messenger bag thread on here

Add in the time it takes to make something custom to meet your needs.
Second hand or big company is your best option.

yeahh good shout cheers, and thanks for the help everyone
I looked into some bags and what materials they use and managed to source the materials on the bay - in theory i could make one for my self for just over £60 .... then again knowing me i'll be cycling and turn around to see everything that was in my bag scattered around the road hahachristmas is only around the corner as well - might be worth just waiting til then, making do with my crappy tennis bag and then treating myself to a levier

Get an Ortlieb messenger bag? £70 at wiggle at the moment. Certainly waterproof and sturdy and you can get extra compartments to clip inside.

I have a barely used Chrome messenger bag. Not sure if it's the citizen or metropolis. It's the big one but not the biggest I think.
It's blue and in great condition. Make me an offer if you're interested

cheap, but not actually a proper messenger bag. doesn't have anti-sway/xstraps so would swing around alot while riding
-
• #1247
true, but i use my timbuk2 without xstrap no problem.
i agree it's more difficult, but there is a sweet spot on a standard cross shoulder strap that changes with volume load. you get the hang of where it is at any load after a while.
i find having the bag rest looser - counterintuitively - stops sway. -
• #1248
^ it's true - x strap isn't essential
-
• #1249
This^ and ^^
Use my T level without x strap and I have none of this swaying issue others seem to have...

Ive had my standard ortlieb for 10 years. Its light and works. Thats all i really care about. If we are talking bout just carrying your laptop on a commute then i would imagine all would work well tho.
After 10 years its pretty much beat up and i intend to get a new just like it. May not be the best looking bag but i dont really care bout that.
You sure you need a messenger bag?
Mightn't a backpack be better suited to carrying A3 stuff?
£100 gets you a Chrome Metropolis range - still a fair way off what you're describing
