  • hey sarah,
come to some events/rides etc and maybe that will spark some motivation to get riding!
www.ibikemcr.org.uk and check the forum as well

    Cheers punkture, I will! :)

  • you'll prolly have to pay extra to take a bike, most have specific extra charges for taking bikes on flights. possibly not worth it if you can afford another over here.... you can get a fuji track for £300. Ask your airline how much extra it will be.

Extra will be expensive. £300 for a complete bike? Well, in that case, I might as well buy a new one over there. Whats the scene in Manchester like? More trick or mash? Polo looks fun.

Not most. BA doesnt charge to bring a bike, i think the larger airlines don't charge as often as the budget ones

I'm taking Etihad(Dubai) Airlines. Maximum weight for luggage is 30 kg. Well, I guess it depends on the amount of my luggage ya.

  • That is kind of a brilliant advert.

  • "look at that fu**ing hipster"

    ha ha

  • haha thats brilliant

  • 'it allows me to fit in my fixed gear bike....and still have room for my quiff'

  • 'it allows me to fit in my fixed gear bike....and still have room for my quiff'

I mentally pictured Morgan when I heard him say that.

  • hahaha!

  • hello, just moved up from that there London. Started commute from W.Didsbury to town today.... got lost so if you see a fella on a Plug with risers looking like he doesn't know where he is thats me

  • hi ade, come to polo/some events (see post 325) soon

  • Great, would love to cheers

  • BWAHAHAHAHA most likely greatest advert ive ever seen.

  • hey,

been riding in and around manchester for ages now with various geared road bikes. Decided its time to make a fixie/beater for going round town (pub!) to take the strain off my roadie. Just in the process of building it up now, 80's emmelle road frame, cheap components, cant wait! ;)

hey dude, welcome to the forum. i used to live in chorlton, should be a similar route you're on. if you go by barlow moor road it's dead easy and a nice flat, not too busy commute in.

got it sussed now ta, not a bad ride, only one puncture and two door openers so far!

feck, did you come off? what road do you take when you hit town? deansgate is bad for door openers, i hugged a beemer there once

That's not a fucking quiff, poser.

  • Would love to build my own bike but currently my know-how extends to fixing punctures and attaching bike computers so I've a lot to learn. Reckon I'm in the right place tho! :)

In a moment of uncontrolled impulse I bought a frame off eBay - looks like I am building my own bike after all. gulp

I've purchased a bicycle maintenance and repair book, confused myself by reading all about chainline, put up my bike for sale and bought some cider. Have I missed anything? ;)

do you need any parts? i may have a few things up for sale, wheel set, cranks, bars etc
    let me know

  • Yeah, only have the frame so far. Don't know what the diameters of all the empty holes are until it arrives tomorrow - knowing nothing about bikes I'm assuming that they vary from bike to bike...?

  • @crank girl and anyone else, I too have a ton of stuff that im gonna sell soon when ive sorted through it all - chris king headset, Mavic cranks, cinelli bars etc etc so if ur needing stuff ur welcome to have a look through so it saves me the hassle of putting it all up on the forum

huh? your old one i hope. there's no way chainlines could've scared you into selling the frame you just bought.

having said that mine is not perfect and if i pull the wheel right back as tight as it goes, i can hear the chainline being off wince
