im in 109, the lock up is always crammed full but the "fire proof" self closing doors in our flat are so heavy its an absolute ball ache to manouver my bike round inside. ive started getting parts together for a new build which i'll probably keep upstairs though. i like living there too, its close to everything but rents good for the standard of flats.

Hello. Seems I'm moving up during the summer, Orange frame with Blue forks. Sometimes around on a Black Brompton with Orange contact points & goldfinger levers.
Can't skid, but can wave hello.

hey lfgss - manchester folk.
bumped in to mmatt last night by thirsty scholar, nice guy! i've kinda been lurking for a while now glancing over the threads, after our conversation seems about time i signed up and said hello to everyone!
i'm a student, originally from bury. been riding about town for nearly a year now. at the moment i'm riding a pretty battered silver conversion that i'm having a lot of fun tinkering with.

Yo tommy! I near clean forgot about that, not for the alcohol, but just a busy night. Some tit locked their bike to mine when I got back to it which was an annoyance to say the least. But yes, hello!

Hello guys, I'm Joe. I'll be moving to Manchester around September. This is first time going to UK. I'll be staying at All Saint(MMU). Anyone from MMU by the way? Would be very grateful if someone could show me around.
Cheers. -

Hi Joe, ill be around that time. If youre bringing your bike, i wouldnt mind giving you a tour to get your bearings around the city. If you dont mind my asking, where are you from?

chucklebruv,
I'm from Malaysia. I'm not sure about bringing my bike over because I dont know whether if there's more space for the luggage since I'll be staying there for quite sometime. What do you reckon, buy a new one there? I mean roughly, how much is an average complete bike? A decent one.Rincewind,
KL. Malaysia. I'm starting my 2nd year degree over there. What course are you taking? -

Computer and network technology. To bring a bike with you you can get a bike bag and pay extra $s for it to be brought over. if you want fixed gear decent used bikes arnt too common really, mabye someone here is manchester will have one for sale, possibly you'll find something nice on ebay, usually pleanty of parts if you want to build your own, or theres off the pegs from £300. What bike do you have now?

Yeah, saw few stuffs selling at a reasonable price. I'm riding a bianchi pista steel at the moment. I was thinking to bring the bike over, tour around there first and see how it goes, might get myself a trick frame, might. Well, maximum limit for the luggages is 30kg, maybe possible to carry with. Are you staying in the hall or what?

you'll prolly have to pay extra to take a bike, most have specific extra charges for taking bikes on flights. possibly not worth it if you can afford another over here.... you can get a fuji track for £300. Ask your airline how much extra it will be.

Not most. BA doesnt charge to bring a bike, i think the larger airlines don't charge as often as the budget ones

I guess I might as well say hi, i've just recently moved out of Manchester (commuting by train at the moment, and looking to move back ASAP!). Not riding fixed yet, but looking to pick one up cheap to try out after having a go on a couple and the endless problems with a pair of old MTBs.

Hello! I'm Sarah. Long time Manchester-resident currently enjoying the leafy environs of Lev/Burnage (I live just off the loop).
I own, but don't ride, a giant ocr 3. Bought it two years ago, fell off it three weeks later. Took a year for the broken wrist to heal but kind of lost interest/nerve/motivation so it's sat untouched for the best part of two years.
Have always loved the idea of riding and maintaining a fixie so now I'm wondering if it is enough of a lure to get me back in the saddle. Would love to build my own bike but currently my know-how extends to fixing punctures and attaching bike computers so I've a lot to learn. Reckon I'm in the right place tho! :)

hey sarah,
come to some events/rides etc and maybe that will spark some motivation to get riding!
www.ibikemcr.org.uk and check the forum as well
Have been in Vie since last March, keep thinking of moving somewhere else, but nothing really seems to be any better.
Not sure which block you're in, I'm in 189 and the lock up is useless so keep the bikes in my flat out of the way.
