Hi lfgss Manchester ,new here and not ridden for a while but the time is right. My last regular ride was sometime ago and was a BMX 24" cruiser which is now in my sons control. I live south of the city and will hopefully be putting my own ride together asap, Cheers

Anyone here live Bury way? I spotted gun metal single speed with white hipster wheels on the a56 Bury Road yesterday on my way back into mcr.
Trying Tram today, way too depressing.

Get some foot retention champ, don't want to be wiping you off the front of a bus.
-
• #358
at least hes got a front brake, perfectly safe bike that but foot retention would certainly improve control
-
• #359
yeah especially with these pedals i got which only work one way up which makes life a bit interesting...
Will invest in some sort of retention, probably straps... ta guys

New pedals / cranks aswell, road frame with what looks like 170mm+ cranks and bigass pedals means pedal strike if you lean more than like 10degrees. Also it looks like you have the chain on the freewheel side?
Not sure on the colour or handlbars either....

yeah Fionelo, welcome to the forum, the place where you get shot down in flames for having the 'wrong' cranks....

Were you the guy I pulled up next to at the traffic lights at bottom of newton street? Hopefully you didn't see a majorly failed trackstand a few traffic lights on which resulted in me pretty much doing a superman out of my toe clips!

Yeah - that was me. Good save I saw (won't tell anyone though)
First time heading out that way today... looking for routes out to my way avoiding Princes Road... fail tonight! See you around.

Hey guys, I've just found out I'll be moving to 'mcr' in September to do a Masters, don't know when I'll be moving exactly, don't know where I'll be living.. don't know anything about Manchester except it has a University, a sub-forum on LFGSS (and ibikemcr.org.uk, which seems pretty aces) and a velodrome :D I'm now hurriedly trying to get my bike up to scratch in time for when I move (first wheelbuild on the horizon.. should be fun.. and by fun I mean terrifying/dangerous, obviously)
Anyway should hope to see some of you guys around when I move -

oh it appears I do have the chain on the freewheel side... what a foolish thing to do, I think I'll go saw off a limb -_-
Dude what does it matter to you? I'm going through a coasting phase at the moment.
As for your comment on my choice of colour, I am insulted(!)
It's my bike... I pick the colour scheme -

ha :) i was watching it from my balcony, fucking torrential it was.
also, you commute from bury every day???
-
• #372
Yeah, think it'll be about 4 days a week Bury and back - geared tho. Will be a racing snake (or tram veteran if many more days like today) by the spring!
Annoyingly, i was carrying full waterproofs all the way - endura jacket and trousers and sealskin socks. As i left bury it was vaguely sunny / spitting so i put on a showerproof jacket just incase it rained and about 2 mins later was totally. drenched so not worth stopping to shelter or change... They'd not have made much diff tho it was that heavy. Bikes bearings will all need re greasing now for sure.

Yeah, the old bike. Well it's a new old bike. I only rode it for a month when I bought it two years ago.
