Similar story to me there Fox, it is beautiful atm....
@DJ that's good, it means your body has raised its immune response.
I too have a fever, because of the rabies vaccine I had last night (I assume). -
• #805
i took some ibuprofen and lemsip, now just a clammy tired mess but unable to sleep
-
• #806
Some would argue to let the fever do its stuff- depending on how severe it is naturally- as you're body is ok at coping at the higher T but the pathogenic organism is not....
But in terms of relief- probably a good choice, tbh- hope you get some more sleep.

generally i try to avoid taking medicines, like you say better to let the elevated temp do its stuff
was hoping to get back to sleep and be able to go for a ride today, but clearly am not well enough and now have not had enough sleep
-
• #808
Yeah, probably best to avoid the ride tbh....
I'm spending my time trying to decide whether I want to do this or not:

Whats the best way to do a little brain switch off? Or at least a dial down! Just for a couple of hours

i saw something a while ago which I've found quite helpful; Starting at your toes and working up clench and hold your muscle groups for 20 seconds (making sure to count in your head), so toes, feet, calves etc.
the point being that by the time you've reached the top you're physically relaxed and mentally distracted from the concentration . -

Went to bed at 12, and almost 4 hours later I'm still wide awake if not more.
I find it humorous how my natural reaction is to think: well I'm not 'trying' hard enough.
Every time i change sides I think, ok, this is it this time, really give it everything and concentrate on feeling sleepy.
Reminds me of the Simpsons Movie when Homer is whipping the huskies and shouting "Rest!" with every whip. That's it, this has been going on long enough, I will buy some sleeping pills tomorrow.
I know they're a chemical solution to a cognitive problem, but they work. -

I know how you feel. I need an off switch.

Insomnia....Lol.

I know they're a chemical solution to a cognitive problem, but they work.I get this a lot. Usually at the worst times - need to be up early, something important the next day etc. I've given up on the "try harder" mentality, if you're going to fall asleep, just being in bed will be enough, if you're not, there's no "right" position to be in, you just won't sleep
I give myself 30mins, an hour max to fall asleep, if I don't , I get up, read a book, watch a film, something fun. Better to spend 4 hours doing something enjoyable rather than thrashing in bed getting angry. I've tried to label the sleeplessness as free time to stop being negative about it. Working up to going for a midnight bike ride but I can never face getting dressed again.
This works for me at the moment but it has taken 15 years of thrashing in bed insomnia to do it. YMMV

Was tempted to go for a wonder around the 24hr tesco up the road last night, but the weather was miserable!
Ordered some melatonin off ebay, which should hopefully arrive soon.
I've been trying to avoid normal sleeping tablets and try something a bit closer to being natural

My sleep pattern has been messed up due to a couple of nights late working. Anyone have any tips on how to get it back to normal? By normal I mean 10-12pm sleep for a 6:30 wake up.

Its very difficult- but you either have to go about it through knackeredness or just bloody-mindedness.
Knackeredness- accept that one day you're going to have to wake up @6, regardless of the time you get to sleep. Force yourself through that day. Avoid coffee, etc in the evening, hit bed at a sensible time.
Bloody-mindedness- Go to bed. Turn off computer, lights, everything. Shut eyes and wait.
I prefer the 1st method. These have no scientific background. Just trial and error.
Still only getting about 4 hours unbroken sleep a night. Waking around 3-4am drenched and freezing from night sweats. Oh joy!
