Earlier than usual for me.....5.30, but wide awake. A quick couple of COD rounds, and an early doors 'drop the kids off at the pool' session.....

I have had insomnia for years and years. Most of my life I was out my head on drugs & alcohol and I never learned how to go to sleep. I didn't fall sleep* I passed out. *Quite recently though just be following some simple rules, and most importantly sticking to them it has got heaps better. I really do know how you feel.

Basically it boils down to sleep hygiene, self discipline and persistence. Don't expect miracles though, I still have the occasional dodgy night, I still occasionally take a anti hystermine to help me sleep but its a hell of a lot better than it was. I actually enjoy switching off all my screens off at around 9pm and then just relaxing with a book or a magazine and a hot cup of cocoa.

Jumped out of bed and started to get quickly out the door.. my alarm went off at 6:30 and I released it was the first good nights sleep Ive had in a while.Only woke once during the night at 5am with the rain

Does it count as insomnia if you go to but wake up at around 3 and then struggle to get back to sleep?

• #847

Oh 3am... that's interesting.
I don't drink coffee and hardly drink tea. I probably should have a computer in my room but it's usually off before midnight unless I've mistimed a film or something.
Last night I gave up after an hour, made a cup of tea an ploughed on through. I may have a nap around 11, not sure if it'll help. I'm certainly going to be knackered by tonight. Or I should be unless I do the usual thing of almost falling asleep at 7pm then being wide awake at 10pm.
