Sometimes a book can keep you awake as it draws you in.

Hey all,
Saw this thread a couple of days ago and it reminded me of I guy I worked with who quit his job with us to work on a idea based around insomnia.
www.sleepio.com
Could be of some help to some people.

i'd love to be asleep right now, at least i have David Attenborough reading to me...

Are you all dressed up in your little animal jim-jams, peeping around the duvet, face all excited and there on the end of the bed is Sir David in a snug M&S piece of knitwear and an oversized leather back book telling you all about how marmots screw?
if it isn't like that don't say anything so as to ruin the picture i have in my head

Nightshifts have screwed me over again, and the last hour just shot past alarmingly quickly! Any suggestions?

I rarely get insomnia but when I do it's brutal and I know within a few minutes of closing my eyes if I'm going to sleep that night or not.
Anyway, I made an insomnia playlist on the old YouTube one night of the type of music I tend to listen to when I can't sleep. I expect I'll add to it in time but at the moment here it is:

I also listen to this:

I never used to get it, but that's be cause I've generally drunk myself to sleep for the past twenty years.
I've cut back on my drinking and now I get fucking insomnia!!!
I got about an hour and a half's kip last night, and even that was broken by my six year old lad blundering into our room to climb in with me.
I am tired and I am grumpy today... -

May I recommend a wee whisky before bedtime?
Even if it doesn't work, you'll still have had a whisky so you're winning.

I've been taking Valerian Root for the past 2 weeks, my sleep is way way better.

You can get it from Holland & Barrett.

Dr Stuart's Valerian tea (two bags in one mug) is proper knock out juice.
I get it from H&B too and it does work.

I now have a job, I still don't have a real sleep pattern set in yet but getting up is no problem now. Such a big difference having something interesting to do for a change. Was getting fed up of going to sleep somewhere between 9pm and 6am

• #767
what are you doing for work now mate?
-
• #768
Temp until christmas hopefully I can make myself useful and prove that they need me, it sounds like they do. It's labouring/carpentry for an audio/visual company, conferences and stuff like that. It's a bit disorganised but it's money.

Maybe give that a try when I finally get home tonight!
I've managed to cash in on not sleeping, did a week of night shifts this week, then an extra shift today that has ended up being 17 hours long so far, but its pure overtime and I'm waiting around watching TV waiting for a computer progress bar to move. Not exciting, but not too shabby either!

Fuck that sounds soul destroying. Gym / Spliff / Horlicks
sitting at the computer is the worst thing for keeping you awake. Read a book.
