  • i'm a Scorpio, and I like dick.

    Sting in the tail...

  • @hippy: ever thought of putting your archery to use on bike theives? It would be such a waste of talent otherwise.

Actually, no. I don't have any kit over here but since I'm a lot closer to Sherwood forest than I was in Oz, I reckon getting hold of some archery gear can't be too damn hard.

  • Is this some kind of challenge hippy? There isn't even any syrup on those chips. It just looks like you're giving that sandwich a passionate kiss.

I can fit a whole tescos deep fill chicken and stuffing sandwich in my mouth in one go (both triangles).

FYI.. that chip buttie had already had half the chips eaten from it and it was just a side for a pizza! In your face biatch! You cannot out-eat me. It's impossible.

  • Pen is for reference. Those are full size dinner plates. Bring it.

  • How many times had you already eaten the stuff on the right?

  • i'm Dick Scorpio, Private Detective.

    Already a YouTube phenomenon.

It did look the same coming back up.. that's true.

  • intense cycling uses about 400-500 calories an hour it has to come from somewhere :-)

Jeez, I had no idea! No wonder I eat before leaving and then eat when I get where I'm going 45 mins later! Especially after yesterday's high wind. Usually I can get by with just a piece of fruit but I ate pasta with meat sauce before leaving, then an apple when I got there, then two pieces of toast with butter and jam. Then a snack and a meal when I got home!!

Thank god this appears it will slow down at some point, but I'm sick of eating!

Does anyone have recipes for good cycling snacks (I can't afford to buy bars) that don't include nuts? I'd be fine if I could bring a PBJ but someone at the other end (whom I'd have to eat near) is allergic to nuts, even just the touch of nuts has given him an allergic response.

  • flapjacks. Cheap, easy, yummy and you can add whatever dried fruit you want.

For a twist on flapjacks replace the golden syrup with condensed milk and mix in dried coconut (is coconut a nut your college has a bad reaction to?) + apricots for a exotic taste.

I think I've asked this before but how much of that did you manage to eat Hippy?

and why would you do that to yourself if there wasn't prize money in it?

are flapjacks pancakes? I'll have to have a look for those later, have to head out for work now. nah, coconut shouldn't affect anyone with nut allergies.

    I want that written on a t-shirt.

    Looks like my breakfast.

  • Orange lucozade sport. Cyclists' Nitrous.

I ran a pepsi challenge on this with a mate of mine the other week some way into a ride.. I had one of these, he had water. I gapped him by a good mile over the next 20mins...arf arf.

Not so funny when the juice ran out about 20miles later.

  • Citrulline Malate, that shit is amazing stuff ;)

  • This stuff is the shizzle: http://www.discount-supplements.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=8240 I used to use 3 scoops (1.5 servings), but more normal size people would get away with one serving I reckon, if you want nitrous for cycling/endurance athletes, this stuff mixed with fast acting simple carbs is about as good as it gets :)

  • I have good days and bad days,

    Good day - 06:45 Museli

                 09:00 Porridge + Fruit
12:00 Soup + bread (large pieces)
                 16:00 Fruit + Bagel
20:00 relatively healthy dinner of some description

Bad day: Any of the below depravity:

Eating nutella from the jar with a spoon / finishing whole packs of chocolate mini rolls / raw marzipan / 1/2 dozen krispy kreme donuts.

Think my problem is that I try and be too good and fall off the wagon.

  • Right I'm REALLY hungry now.... My lunch of a Kinder egg hasn't cut it.

  • when i first started riding i was only commuting, but it made me eat twice my normal amount, yet i was still loosing weight. which was tough at the time becuase i was a poor student, and buying all that food was taking away from my beer/weed budget.

in the last year or so i started riding alot more, these days i do 30-50mile fun rides most days. i dont suffer from craving as much food, but i turn into a real moody bastard if i miss a meal. ive never really had a breakfast habit before in my life, but now it makes a noticable diffrence to my mood and how my body feels, and cant wake without having somthing good to eat.

i dont eat on rides, but its somthing i might consider doing once i get my geared bike and will be doing longer rides.

    That was just his starter.

    Fixed.

  • For the benefit of anyone who hasn't already made this: extremely straightforward store cupboard pasta fagioli:

    1 x tin of tomatoes
1 x tin of borlotti beans (softer and tastier than cannellini beans)
    Olive oil
    Oregano
    Salt and pepper
    optional dark molasses sugar
    decent pasta

Heat olive oil in lidded saucepan until it's perceptibly thinner than at room temperature. Add tomatoes (lid on at this point or your kitchen will gain polka dots). Let toms bubble for a bit - they should sweeten in the heat. At this point, add a teaspoon of dark sugar which brings out the full flavour. Add beans (rinse the gloop off them first) and a little water. Leave simmering for a bit so the beans heat through and soften. Shortly before taking off the heat, add oregano (which is extremely easy to grow in a pot BTW) salt and pepper.

Put the whole lot on your pasta (de Cecco FTW). Excellent post-cycling scoff, hard to get wrong and dirt cheap.

  • My breakfast super-sandwich: take a tin loaf and cut two thick slices... lengthways, spread one side thick with chocolate spread the other with peanut butter, then put three whole bananas in between!
