I've got a new pair of the Planet X gloves in M/L if anyone wants 'em. I'd like to swap for XL though I'd also swap for a fiver.

I see on-one/planet-x have a new range of gloves for this year:
non of them more expensive than £20, I need a new pair for those cool autumn/winter days so i might give one of them a try.
I'm actually looking forward to really cold dry days again

^^^ I have some of these. Grip is great, but they're not padded at all other than the sponginess of the neoprene. Grip is so good in fact that caution must be excercised when riding in them as forgetting about the grip and doing that wipe of the nose action which involves pinching the top of your nose between thumb and finger and then dragging pulling your thumb/finger down over your nostrils and off the bottom is like being assaulted with sandpaper and feels like you've just removed half a dozen layers of skin!
They're the warmest gloves I've every used, but they do so by sheathing your hands in warm sweat. Lots of people comment that this gives you wet hands and that's fair enough, but nobody mentioned that it leaves your hands absolutely stinking. I've only had these a short while and think they're going to be a one wash for every 2 or 3 wears item. They also take forever to dry out and because of the sweat thing, need it after any decent ride, regardless of weather.

Warmth takes precedence over funk. I am dreading the winter due to my poor circulation (blood has a long journey getting round my body).

I was in general and I was literally thinking you know summer's over when someone dredges up the winter gloves thread, come into Bikes and Bits and lo and behold...
Now I'm depressed

Snap.
I might try riding my proper bike in whilst wearing my full on winter gauntlets to see if I can change gear reliably, ahead of winter proper settling in.

I got sealskinz from 10 to 0, from 0 to -10 I use these
below that I put some merino undergloves/liners inside the rab gloves. A few times below minus 20 celsius Ive used sealskins inside those rab gloves, but that's only good for riding brakeless.

Tried the planet x ones but as my circulation in my feet and hands is poor I ended up doubling them up with a pair of woolen campag gloves underneath. Just about kept me warm.
On any colder days I used the tenn outdoors thick gloves, now they are lovely and warm although they will fill with sweat rather easily!

I still swear by these:
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/BRIERS-LUXURY-LINED-CREAM-LEATHER-HIDE-GARDEN-GARDENING-GLOVES-/00/s/MzczWDQ3Mg==/$%28KGrHqF,%21i8E7DCYBDiUBP%28MrHzk%28Q%7E%7E60_35.JPGBriers' fleece lined gardening gloves!
About ten quid a pop. They wear in lovely and supple, are shower proof, machine washable and tough as a dog's head. I've been wearing them for three years now. A third of the price of cycling specific gloves but just as tough.

The thing that really made a difference to me was wearing much larger gloves than I had been doing previously, this allowed the insulation to work properly and made my hands much happier.
I might try heated insoles this winter, as my feet (especially the toes that I have had operations on) really suffer.

Over shoes and plastic bags will do the trick dammit.

^^That's how tramps start off.
"Ooh, who needs a waterproof? This bin bag is fine!"
"A hat? Why do I need one when I have this seagull on my head?"
"Who needs toilet paper? I just shit my pants and enjoy the warmth."
"Why bother with a bidon? I just drink my sherry straight from the bottle!"
"I keep my feet warm with Morrison's carrier bags!"

It's that time of year again. Needed gloves this morning for sure :)

It was bracing this morning for sure.

set off at 7.20 and for sure the mitts weren't enough, but had to soldier on. Will have to dig out the trusty DeFeets tomorrow

I misjudged that one. could have done with some gloves. I use some Hilly running gloves but since I got my new brakes they just slip off so I need some rubberized dots on the palms and fingers. Looking at Sealskinz first...

Sealskinz are a good choice. I may buy some this year as they are dexterous you can use them for other activities outside too.
-
• #647
Yeah they were originally recommended to me by one of our BMF instructors for frosty winter press-ups

Anyone have any experience with any of these? http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/ZXPXWINT/planet_x_4_seasons_bundle
Seems like a good deal...

I was thinking of getting on that, if just for the overshoes if nothing else.
Can you comment on the grip? I need me a no-need-for-bar-tape kind of grip.
