tonight was first time for a while in RP after dark. brilliant fun. no traffic - apart from runners. highly recommended.
gimme a shout next time you do it. nice night for riding last night. weak wind and mild.

I know. He did my cyclefit.
The National 10mi record held by Wiggins is 17:58 @ 33mph/52.8kph but I don't know the course (I assume these records are set on fast flat courses but maybe I'm going wrong here?). So, Spence is only 6kph down on Wiggins around bumpy, turning RP, albeit on a shorter ride? Seems a bit like Chinese Whispers where each person that tells the story rounds down.. could just email him and ask him :)
Last time I spoke to Warrick I asked him about this rumour of a 15 min lap of RP. He told me that he was in the park one summers evening and decided after a few laps to give a flying lap a go as he was feeling good. As the park was closing the traffic was light and no head wind which made all the difference. He didn't confirm the actual time.......
Last time I looked on bikeradar the RP thread was suggesting 3 laps anti under a hour was benchmark with I think some elite cat riders getting sub 50min.

will do ... is easier for me to make it down during the week than weekend ... have to be out by 8pm though as they're shootin' deer for the next few weeks.

• #680
how long do you ride for in the evenings?
-
• #681
i thought the cull had finished?
-
• #682
It was an hour getting to RP, an hour lapping it, and an hour home ... worth the effort though - was really peaceful cruising round. Would also be fun with others.
Re cull ... a sign on the gate yesterday said it was happening 4-5 weeks from 2 Feb. There was some Landie with a bad-ass searchlight lapping as I left just before 8. Not a good day to be a deer methinks ...

Was that 3hours on fixed?
-
• #684
no ... geared. first time out on it for a few months and could barely walk after because of back pain! the joys of pedalling.

Let me know when next you plan on doing a mid-week evening ride... I would be up for joining you.
Would be coming from Central London then heading toward Kew and Brentford after... always better riding with others...

dulwich rider if you are going to rp you could swing by tooting and pick your stem up.
(there is even a slight possibility i may be riding the park in the evening but i usually ride during the day) -
• #687
cool. likely monday or tuesday next week. getting to rp around 7pm. mr smith - am afraid for gift reasons I picked up a stem elsewhere. sorry mate.
-
• #688
ok, tuesday evening it is, barring heavy rain. aiming to get to roehampton gate shortly before 7. then lapping park for c.1hr at a good pace. bring (front) lights!

^ I cannot make tues, but have a good run tom.
Who is in for tomorrow? I know RPM is at Calshot (lucky bugger) and Corny said he'd make it down last night.
9:30 Start?
-
• #690
will most likely be there 9:30. 2 fast laps and a couple of surges on the flat bit from the last roundabout to roehampton cafe (ccw). not very track specific but good for general FTP with a bit of speed workout. others might opt for one warm up lap and sprint efforts like last week.

ha, i'll see if I can keep up :S
-
• #692
is the prancing lancer going?
i'll probably bump into you guys again. -
• #693
I can make it, 9:30 is also good for me tomorrow, looking forward to it.

Londons famous Londons Hills you say? what you planning on doing?
It's now Sunday morning. I got to do ghost bike stuff saturday, then the Arsenal. so I am up Sunday to hit those hills around 9. i got to be back at the flat at 11am so its Muswell, Swains, Highgate west and highgate highstreet in a circuit.
also means i wont be at RP - just no time
-
• #695
I might be at RP this time although I'm sorely tempted to get drunk now which will mean a sleep in tomorrow..
-
• #696
hmm my knee injury appears to be getting worse. I think I may just spend a week of the bike. First time I have ever had an injury and I don't like it. I htink I have done too much hill work recently in too big a gear
-
• #697
Rest it man and change that gear. can't be doing you any good
-
• #698
mike i'd take a week off the bike and just rest...

i'll be doing proper laps with hills so look out for a dirty blue pista.
none of this quick sprint a cheat lap then straight to the cafe. it all goes pear shaped when RPM isn't there to give encouragement -
• #700
don't sprint this week guys! do some laps and put in efforts where you can.
next week will be sprints again, and then the skills sessions I'm pinning on you remember?
which reminds me, i need to give you back those lights... will email. apols.
