  • He's a skinny and fast antipodean?
Might be a little slower but wind can be a factor in RP. My highest speed in RP was 40.5 mph going down Sawyers Hill with dodgy brakes and a strong tailwind. Say he went anti clockwise with no traffic and took the two descents very fast, climbed the bumps at over 20mph (which is far from inconceiveable) and sprinted on the flats....

I know. He did my cyclefit.

The National 10mi record held by Wiggins is 17:58 @ 33mph/52.8kph but I don't know the course (I assume these records are set on fast flat courses but maybe I'm going wrong here?). So, Spence is only 6kph down on Wiggins around bumpy, turning RP, albeit on a shorter ride? Seems a bit like Chinese Whispers where each person that tells the story rounds down.. could just email him and ask him :)

  • Yep, I have made it there a few times from Finchley. Its a great workout with a nice warm down ride on the way home. Especially if the sun is shining

  • I've done a 17:57 lap of RP. Anti-clockwise on a warm summer's evening in June 2006. I got lucky with traffic.

  • Saturday is the RP day and it's fixed. Sunday has become my day of hills and on gears. This Sunday I am taking myself off quietly into some hilly place (probably Epping Forest) and will go up and down nasty climbs until I learn how to do them or die.

For a fast time in RP, do it geared. To train for a fast time, go fixed.

  • Wiggins record course L1015.. straight out and back..

+1 I cannot wait for some sunshine and warm weather.

You call it a nice warm down - I call it a sprint.

  • hippy, check the London Dynamo site. There may be something on their forum about this. I think there is also a BikeRadar thread - where is Littigator when he's needed?

    Must

  • did just above 20 min laps last saturday fixed. for the second lap i was hanging in the fast dynamo bunch from rohampton to the top of sawyers hill and let them go. turned out to be a 19:30 lap. so i assume they do 18something as chaingang workout.

  • RP is about 4k short of a 10mi so.. maybe.

  • Just called Cyclefit and spoke to Kimberly. Warrick is in a fitting. She knows he has a certificate for the record lap of Eastway but is not sure of his RP time. She will revert. He once did 11 laps on the trot. That strikes me as mind-numbingly dull.

  • shall we do geared laps of RP this weekend?

(am sure RPM does not have to know about it)

He doesn't hold the record for Eastway anymore. Rafael's Radziej's got it.

    saturday or sunday?

  • either or both?

  • Saturday fixed, Sunday geared?

Having said that I might ride to Windsor this Sunday.

  • Saturday fixed, Sunday geared?

    could be a plan

Sunday do 2 laps of the park and then Windsor?

    Forever. He's a monster rider.

  • What time is Windsor? and with who?

Doing london-famous-londons Hills saturday morning - sprint training followed by double egg, black pudding, bacon and Guiness... got half a bar at the thought!
