  • Tapering before a period of training?

I can't keep up with these new-fangled methodologies.

yeah tapering off, you know, crimping

  • I'll be there tomorrow anyway

  • I'm working Saturdays till the end of June, and neglecting my climbing muscles till at least August.
Happy to pass the torch to claus though.

That is very kind but you might put it somewhere safe if you need it back at some point. Things are all over the shop here, I improved on shorter climbs but seamed to have paid the price on endurance (although I did some long rides). All very difficult to read, only know things are shifting. It is early season but think I should start bringing a bit more structure into it, or just stick with showboating.

  • was out in RP during the one hour of nice weather we'd had this year. not bad day for it. until it started raining. raced the gf - she ran the perimeter, I did laps ... almost romantic.

the hill reps have paid off - sawyer's hill felt like a power hill rather than a sharp scramble. loved switching back to the look pedals rather than spds. sub 21 min laps without too much bother. aiming for sub 20 min in a month or so.

  • hill reps eh? good work. you going to join us again for a lap or three?

  • Would love to ... not my side of town though so means ungodly start time to make it across. Might move back west one day just because. one of these days ...

  • To continue my full-moon rides, I threw caution to the force 8 wind, and went for a very quick, short lap last night. Ho-hum, I think they call it character building. Here's hoping it'll be clearer next month.

Corny, I cruised past the South drinks on my way back to New Cross but alas, in my be-draggled state I was in more in need of a pint of hot tea than Guiness. Next time sir!

  • bloody hell chops, that was a gruesome night to be doing circuits of RP - I'd just presumed that you'd cancelled it!

    • 1 nutter. I played footy in the soaking rain instead. Soaked through completely.

Saturday's forecast looks good ATM, 5c and sunny.

  • I think it's the only ride I'll get during the week so figured I'd give it a go. It was a pleasantly testing evening, roll on summer.

With the nicer weather I'm up for Saturday morning ...but a young lady I'm courting might say otherwise. I'm away Wed/Thurs, so will catch up with you folks on Friday for the latest.

  • 9.30 or 10.30 start tomorrow? Weather looks great.

  • 10.45, to have the issue desk fully operative by 11.

  • 9 and it's speedo weather

lets do the three lap challange. something like three laps in a day or along those lines

  • not going to be able to make it this week, got some lurgy chest thing, which makes the thought of pootling up richmond park hills unsustainable.

    enjoy the ride.

at least it gives me time to make some flapjacks for next weeks exertions..

  • 1030

    for some efforts.

although you can do what you like, I don't expect everyone to copy me..

  • I will be there at 10:30.

Then again, I was described the other day as one of RPM's bitches and was also accused of being prepared to attend even the opening of an envellope. People are cruel.

  • i'm copying Rob

  • to be like Clive

  • have to be back in E1 around noon so would show up around 9:00, do 3 laps and see you guys just before 10:30 for some tire kicking

  • I have to do some valentines bollox tomorrow.
Hoping to get on the Rollapaluza ride on Sunday. Though my knee is in some pain today.
I don't normally get injuries, so I am a bit concerned. It may have something to do with pushing it up Highate West the other day on my track gearing :S

The pain is on the inside, front of the left knee, but it appears to travel into the rear thigh and up towars the front, every now and then. Any ideas what it may be?

  • Ouch. Saddle height is one possibility but that would be surprising.

  • no. I never ever adjust my saddle. I htink I may have just over done it

  • Let's get this straight Mike - you've been climbing Highgate West in a high 80s gear and afterwards you've got a sore knee?

I think the two are probably directly related.

  • his track gearing is 92

    bye bye knees

  • Whats the sunday ride?

you also might be braking more as the conditions are rough? you brake with the right foot forward mostly?
