I thought Mike braked for no man (woman or child)?
-

good point andy. Maybe he struck a few children on his commute and didn't realise becuase the rain is in his face?
I find on the wet roads a grip the bike tighter with my thighs when i feel it kick out in the rain. the lateral movement could be causing the pain?

No. It was actually the Calshot gearing - 82. I was riding around town, I completely forgot I had changed the gear, and I thought it felt a bit heavy Then getting up West Hill, I had to stand at the end which I don't normally do, so I figured I was just a bit tired. When I got home, thats when I realised.
My knee didn't hurt at the time. Just the next evening on the way home. I could not put any pressure on the left pedal at at all as the pain in my knee was really bad. So I effectively rode homw with just my right leg.
So you think it may have just been overdoing it up the hill? Its not something I will be making a habit of

It sounds like it. I did something similar once and the pain only came a day or so after. Rest it for a day or two and see how it goes.

I agree - a few days off the bike sounds like a good idea too. Not worth jeopardising the next few months for the sake of a couple of rides in RP and Essex (both of which involve hills, the latter moreso). Hills aren't really going to do shit for your track preparation, unless they're very short.
I had to lay off for a week after one of cliveo's Windsor rides, just when I was ready to really get stuck in to the training. Very glad I made that decision now.

ha ha ! looking forward to it.

I can make tomorrow, looking forward to it but need to be back earlier than normal, plan to have a slow ride in arrive around 9:15, 3 fast laps and a slow ride back via Borough again.
Also plan to make the Sunday ride if the "other forum" crew let me join in.
See you tomorrow. -

yep come along mj, unfortunately your alter ego won't be joining us.

Hi all,
love to come for a spin tomorrow, but unless I can slip un-noticed for 4 hours and return with breakfast in bed and a bottle of champagne I'm not going to make it. Oh, hold on... 10.30 you say...
Mike, it's been plenty chilly recently! Keep them knees covered even if you don't feel it - Kneewarmers, legwarmers - take it easy. I ride 48/16 and now you're all getting me worried.

• #613
see you down there chop ;)

my fairweather roadie friend has bailed on me for fear of ice on the roads.
RP is due to be about 1C by 10.30, what will the road be like?
-
• #615
eh? it says 4-5 degrees.
there's no ice here, there shouldn't be any in the park by 1030..
I'm heading over there, can't see it being that bad

it's all lies they were drinking tea and talking a big ride everytime i went past, bigging themselves up with tall tales of frantic sprints, beating champions and fondling podium girls.
