• I swung by today, left a frame and cranks

they have a dosnnoventa-pink shade in stock now, and I vouch for its fluoro-ness
green, orange, pink, yellow - price for a fluoro-like coat is 120
    just a heads up

Would a flouro green paint job stop you yapping about how un-slave Setas are?

  • Do armourtex do crabon?

  • I hope so!

  • ^^ no

  • Noooooo

  • Indra, carbon is incredibly difficult to paint over, I believe
As you have to sand down the clear coat and then apply paint. Not sure why you'd want to powdercoat a carbon frame anyway. Would Add about 200gr to the frame weight if not more.

  • why would fluro cost more than a standard coat?

Weight isn't too much of a concern, I guess I'll just leave it clear.

nothing would do seta a favour with regards to its unslaveness;)

  • you see?
no matter how spokked up it is, throw omnium at it or whatever..
    sorry!

  • That's sexy man, I just ordered my omniums.
Might have to steal a disc wheel and a hed.

  • Are you gonna go for the slack chain look too? ;)

  • Nah, I'll be rocking a tight and noisy Izumi.

  • Is getting a lacquer coat on top of colour at armortex worth the extra money? is it just for extra protection or does it improve the colour aswell?

  • depends on the colour and lacq used, i.e. flakes do look better but then again you see that in full sun only..
if you're going for say gloss plain colour then don't, its a waste of money - coat is strong enough.

also this is powdercoating which means putting frame in the stove
    and carbons melts

  • Carbon melts at temps reached in an oven does it?
    3500c

  • I'm just being pedantic, I know the structure is destroyed.

  • depends on the colour and lacq used.

I've just had a RAL 2004 metallic lacquered, and it has changed the colour quite a lot. No longer Merckx orange, but more a salmon pink. I was warned by them that the lacquer changes the result, so listen to their expertise. Their service is very impressive, and the bank of example tubes is the most useful tool to select the result. Pictures later, when my camera is working, and the sun is shining.

  • How much would they charge to powder coat this front rack?

  • Did you buy it yet?

If not, go for the Soma.

  • ^ got it off classifieds for £60 really good condition, would love it if it was black.

  • Won't be as durable if you strip and coat it.
Why not just abuse it for now; get it all ratty and in no time, 15 years or so, you can get it coated.
