This is just notional really, but they would be geared wheels.

wow, front hubs are all over the place but I have just spent like an hour looking for a reasonably priced 28h rear, all are pretty pricey eg these (except I want black anyway)http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DOUBLE-SIDED-FIXED-TRACK-HUBS-28-32-36-HOLE-/390588365345?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&var=&hash=item5af0e17a21
you can buy two sets for 65, that is just silly.
go with 32 rear, 28 or 24 front. less faff -

Still more or less relevant: Rambling About Light Wheels
(an update should, I think, address the developments over the last fews years: single speed road, availability of tubular rims, price development of old alloy rims, carbon rims, wooden rims, new spokes such as the Sapim Superspoke,...) -

Quiet.

I've not used mine yet I'm afraid so cannot tell you.

Argh. My rear wheel rim has popped. Probably time to get a new rear anyway, as I've had it 6 or 7 years now. I'm a bit of a novice in buying componentry.... any suggestions as to what I should get? I don't have time to build a wheel at the moment, as we're doing up our flat, and I need to ride! Its for a singlespeed mostly for communting, and the odd bit of road training....
If the rear is knackered, the front might be too soon. Is there much benefit buying a pair?

Hey, so right now I have Ellipse's, but I have opportunity to sell them. I'd like something similar, lighter. With 24 spokes or less. Recommendations?

read the thread, Wardy asked the same question

I've got Novatecs on my 29er - OK, so they're MTB disc hubs, but AFAIK the freehubs are the same of all of them. The freehub's quiet and purry rather than loud and clicky.

Ok, I'm aprox 70kg. Riding daily on streets shittier then in London. How many spokes I should have? And what hubs should I go for? Something better then Novatec, Miche something like MACK, PAUL?
-
• #92
Yeah, I'm quite happy with those links :) I think I'm going to go for cheaper hubs though as I am only a student. Any suggestions for cheap but decent spokes to finish it off?

Wards are you going for road hub on the front?
We could joint the effort to save the shipping, I need one in 24h. -

We could joint the effort to save the shipping, I need one in 24h.I am, and I was looking at the NovaTec a291 for my front wheel, however I live in cambridge so I don't think we'd end up saving anything unless their shipping costs are absurdly high!

Novatec>miche
Why so much hate against Miche around LFGSS?
I haven't had any problems with Miche cranks or hubs,
thought their bearings are shitty. -
• #97
Not hating on them there, simply saying that novatec are better.

bump.
I have managed to find some bolt-on novatecs wih solid high flange.
I have spoken to a machinist (from on here) and he said that cutting the flange off to make it low should not be a problem, that will also allow for custom drilling 24h front/28h rear using the dividing head.the hub body is beefier at the flange sides, so it should not affect it structurally also.
Will update the thread with the weight once this is done, quite possibly a bit will be shaved off the mid area too depending on couple of factors.stoked!
