answer your emails maciek goddamnit!

he did, and dreams/plans are shattered.
no road super lights, and front mtb ones only for qr.
and he's done with funky stripes as well now. -
• #58
not to be too cheap, but anybody have some suggestions for a light fixed wheelset sub-£200? (I'm poor). I was excited to find some 2010 mavic ellipses for £158 on crc but they're discontinued :(

Not sure what the shipping and exchange rate works out at, but I paid $200 USD for the Formulas / DT 2.0 / TB14 wheelset on my Pomp, bought from Velo Mine.
I could have bought a lighter wheelset there for the same price (Formulas / DT 1.8/2.0 / Open Pros) but fancied a wider rim for my setup. -

Shipping sounds expensive! Just found these, not sure if they're any good, anybody had them before? http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/WPPXAL30DTR/planet_x_al30_d_track_wheelset

• #61
you want a ready set or are prepared to build one?
-
• #62
I'm prepared to build one, however I was under the impression that it is generally cheaper to buy pre-made wheels? I could be wrong, did you have anything in mind?
-
• #63
I think so, note it will take some time to have these components shipped though.
you could get kinlin rims which are sub380g each, novatec hubs (or rear novatec, and cheap chinese light front hub off ebay with qr) and that would be all in all circa 100 pounds. rest can go towards light spokes and labour, which shouldn't be excessive given you got all the components.
this would be more like 1,4kg rather than 2kg as well - how heavy are you? -
• #64
I'm about 70kg, that sounds like a good plan! I looked at some deep profile rims etc but I think I'd rather focus on weight for this build. Any suppliers you reccomend or shall I shop around? Thanks for the help!

Has anyone seen those 20mm carbon fibre rims for sale anywhere for "good price"?
I really fancy some for some reason.
-
• #66
Dammit I never really understood, whats the benefit of such a shallow carbon rim if the weight is same as for alloy ones. thoughts?
Wardy: bikehubstore.com has kinlins xr 200 and rotaz front road hubs, but I am encouraging you to look on ebay for the same bits as often shipping options are better.
novatecs are easier to find I think:) -
• #67
If the weight is the same: none, I can only think of disadvantages such as braking.
I thought that they were around the 240g mark though?
-
• #68
ah, you're talking tubs.

wow, front hubs are all over the place but I have just spent like an hour looking for a reasonably priced 28h rear, all are pretty pricey eg these (except I want black anyway)http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DOUBLE-SIDED-FIXED-TRACK-HUBS-28-32-36-HOLE-/390588365345?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&var=&hash=item5af0e17a21
