I have been a little bit in love with Victoria Pendleton since she won gold in Beijing. It's very nice to see her FHM shoot published, and I'm sure she got a lot of money for it, and she is very pretty, but she had me at the point at which she qualified for the gold medal final.

As others have no doubt already said, due to the UCI's failure to award equal prize money for men and women, VP is just using this opportunity to supplement her income, and probably doubled her annual income by doing so.

her fee for the shoot would not double anyone's income. most of her income would be from british cycling and sponsorship (addidas, sky etc)
the shoot will be good publicity for her and her sponsors in areas she has little or no brand exposure.

I think what she has done is great, not only has she proven herself in her chosen sport. She is also showing other women can be very sporty and beautiful at the same time.
