• I bought a 2008 LeMond Fillmore about two weeks ago, totally blind for, £400. Just been through the 2009 bikes and I'm still totally stoked on my purchase! The best bit is the chainset. Miles ahead of the competition! Oh and sealed hubs! The only bad point I could find is the cable guides and the rack mounts. Otherwise a straight up totally rad ride! If you have £400 for an OTP get a 2008 LeMond Fillmore!

• I absolutely LOVE the colour, and the look of that Charge Plug Grinder.

No evidence that I can find of them being on sale in the UK though. Shame.

Right now Charge have the price listed already in their site, take a while to appear on bicycle shop since it's literally just been released yesterday.

if I had £400 to spend on an OTP then I would not be looking in this thread

• NEW: Charge Plug Grinder, £470, rather like how it look despite the price tag.

Is that normal that I want that more than a Steamroller right now???

Oh, and I believe, the fender are not integrated as doing so would mean No rear wheel removal. :)
This is definitely a nice bike

• You and me both, hell it's almost worth the extra £70 over the standard Plug just to get it in that colour and the mudguard.

ironically enough it look less fussy than the standard Plug, it would've been my dream bike if it got belt drive instead of chain.

OTPFTW

• The Charge Mixer have a new facelift, chrome with black wheel (like my Pista);

it's a geared bike but still.

• Real sweet grinder: now i'm considering taking back my deposit for the creamroller.....

Too late in the game

• Sod it mate, the creamroller will feel like it's the last bike you'll ever own once you get it.

• So good I won't upgrade, Ever.
Or so bad, I won't ride evaaa ??

• oh you'll upgrade certain component, it's the frame I'm talking about, the Surly Steamroller is quite popular here for how it ride and it's strength.

• can you get a steamroller for less than 400 quid, a cursory look on the web didnt throw much up

• Am I the only one hating the plug grinder's colour?

• I'm in need of a cheap singlespeed to supplement my other bike. The SE Draft at Charlie the Bikemonger seems reasonably priced right now, anyone tried one?

The Draft is very heavy (hi-ten steel) but for the price it's far better than a Unipack, if you're simply looking for a bike to just go about, then I'd says go for it, if you're not really pressed for time, you can always find an old road bike, get a fixed wheel and bingo, still be under £200 (a complete road bike, that all you need to change is merely removing the gear, rear wheel, and add a fixed wheel), Condor sell a fixed wheel for £75 I think.

• I've got an old road bike at my parents house that I last used 10 years ago which might do with a lot of TLC. I'm not going fixed to start with, need to get used to no gears first ;)

Good suggestion though.

• there you go, you can get a rear wheel with a flip flop hubs thought, (fixed and freewheel), so you´re pretty much sorted.

a lots cheaper and lighter than the SE Draft.

• New wheel, bar tape and brake levers it is then. Pedals can wait but I'm not sure a set of mountain bike crank bros spds are exactly in keeping with the retro theme. So any places to pick up decent but cheap brake levers?

• Kiwi Cycles? ......if you're in London that is.

• edit.

• At that price, it might be gone by the New Year.

Bargain.......not far off £200 from original £450-£500.

• i bought a draft in the states to use as my bike over there ( i spend a lot of time there with work) because i didn't have time to try and source something decent... it rides ok, but the bmx size bottome bracket is shit. the cranks are toss, so for that reason i'd not recommend it...... if the bb were normal size, then you could upgrade, but cuz it's a bmx size you can't. pointless.

• They're listening. Cannondale seemed to have had a change of heart, and instead of the fragrant Lilac jobbie they thought of giving us, they've gone back to black. Better.

Its already being stocked in the shops. Maybe Cannondale did, or maybe they didn't read our derision of the ever so delicate looking Capo, but they've somehow changed their minds completely, and quite late in the day too. Coincidence?

• FELT have also changed their range to more saleably coloured bikes, as they might have read what we thought of their cerise efforts. Now, more white.

2008

2009

With the tube protector off, its almost not too bad......

• BTW, photos are now updated, and prices are halfway through being checked.
