• I am going to be riding 3miles to work everyday and it's up a big hill, BIG hill.. I want something easy to ride, but not ugly. What do you think I should go for £100-£300

  • Go for a lo-pro = Constant downhill.

    HTH.

  • a bike?

  • Too hard. Get a taxi to take you.

  • It's only three bloody miles, even your old Halford-inspired full suspension MTB will hobble you to work.

  • Smashing.. The usual helpful answers. Anyone know a good bike forum? lol

Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.

  • Is there no chairlift to take you to the top?

  • Does the Giant Bowery 72 (2010 version) have mudguard eyes front and back? I think I can see an eyelet on the fork in some pics, but nothing on back, which doesn't make much sense...

  • how are the veloheld single speeds generally thought of?

I'm pretty sure that you are correct - front forks have eyelets, but the rear stays do not. At least, they didn't on mine (we're talking the metallic red one, right?). Bike no longer here, so I can't double check this instant, I'm afraid.

    Expensive.

  • Looking to get a new bike for about £400. Been looking at the Fuji Track Classic but wanted to see if anyone recommends otherwise? Would also love to build up my own but not sure if i could do this with new parts with the money i've got. Any ideas?

  • Hi, this question has been asked many times

Have a look at this thread http://www.lfgss.com/thread9085.html

and search for OTP, there is a lot of good advice to be found on here.

  • As clefty says, also if you wanted to build your own it is doable with that budget but a mix of second-hand parts and new would give you more choices. It would be more time and labour intensive than just buying one. However, you would also learn more about your bike than simply going out and buying one and in that sense it would be more rewarding. Ask yourself how much time you have to spend on such a project and do you have a local bike shop not too far from where you live that you could trust if you get stuck during the build and need help.

  • UTFS, be mindful of which forum you are posting in.

  • Wouldn't mind getting my hands on a couple of those.

  • Hi Guys,

I've decided that its time to get another bike. I'm looking to buy a road bike within the next weeks hopefully. At the moment I'm riding a specialized crossroads sport hybrid.

I'm going to get one via my employer under the 'Ride 2 work' scheme. Before making a complete twat of myself before buying, I just wanted to know a few things before I make the plunge.

I'm 6 foot 2, heavy build, looking to spend between £400-500.

What would be a good brand to buy?

Any good retailers you can recommend?

What sized frame should I be looking for?

Any other information that I should be looking at as well before purchasing?

    Any help is much appreciated.
