Without meaning to breeze over all this beautiful maffs...
Matt Black's work looks fucking awesome, good shout.
Can't recommend the guy enough. I basically said roughly what I wanted then let him loose on my arm. So far he's been awesome and I love what he's doing.
Probably the best value place for top quality artists too. Not sure if I should post the hourly rate, pm me if you want it in advance.

I've been blessed/cursed with an outie and it was in the way so we tattooed over it. There's only a couple of lines hiding it hah.

Thomas H, two questions:
Did you conceive of the whole lot in one go or did you add them one by one? Which then came first?
I know it's kind of fashionable, which may or may not be your reason, but why such a boldly nautical theme?

They're all impressive TH, but I like the ship the most. V nice.

Can anyone give me some recommendations on who might be best to go and see about getting my piece done? The basic idea is two bats under my collar bone, but I want them to look like medieval wood block (durer etc). Who would be best at pulling off that kind of style?

All my works been done by Duncan X. I've got a huge love for objects and line illustrations rather than compositions (hoping that makes sense). Rather than planning what I'm getting done I've just been picking areas and working it out between sessions.
I started with my ships wheel because I wanted something really simple and huge so I could work around it. Almost didn't get booked because of concerns about me sitting still while out lining the whole thing in the first session but it all worked on in the end.
After that I got the steamer boat which is loosely based on the SS Barnhill which was the last boat to get bombed off the coast of England during the war and can be seen at low tide near where I live. Bellows came about because my great uncle who I was named after was a blacksmith. The pocket watch was a straight copy of my granddad's I have. The scissors were a way of splitting my back up to avoid having one huge piece like most people do (and planned to be a sneaky signature for Duncan by me hah). No hugely important meaning behind anything particularly but loads of little inspirations for the ideas really. There's an anvil underneath the rain cloud but it's a bit risky to show.
I've never really had any particular theme in mind beside getting tattooed by Duncan a lot really but with the wheel and ship I've even up a bit nautical heavy but that'll balance out by the end of the year. We both enjoy old line illustrations and historical stuff so ideas are pretty endless between us. I'll post pictures of my sleeve soon but it's only quarter done at the moment but it's shaping up to be amazing. Based on the great fire of London and the 1600's. I've been through the British Library's map dept and all over London for research and it's been too much fun.

Sounds cool the motives behind the work - awesome that you can see the ship at low tide. Good idea to split up your back really works and leaves space.
If you're getting old fashioned stuff original fixie skidder Penny farthing ftw!
is the ship beached? line work on the hull is sweet
