I'd buy some if they were US prices. It only costs an extra pound to pay the US price plus shipping from Mission Workshop in San Fran (or where ever it is).

http://www.retrofitz.com/index.htmlIts a shoe conversion kit, though personally I think cutting the sole out of an old spd shoe is a better option

Hmm, I have some pretty good trekking boots that's too worn to be use again, reckon it'll double up as a great clipless winter boots with that kit.
If I can cut the ridiculously thick rubber that is.

^ Took a look today. Currently only have Concubines and will be getting a couple of others in including the Dice. Unsure of price yet, maybe around £90.
Rutland Cycles are selling DZR's from £67.49, though. Just bought some Districts to replace my ageing GMT-8s.

Hi all,
I'm considering getting a pair of these, I quite fancy going clipless but I want to have shoes I can wear off the bike also.
Reviews seem fairly mixed as to their on and off bikes usefulness, does anyone have any experience with them, or other plimsoll/casual style SPD shoes?

I love my Kursks, had them for almost a year, feel great to ride in, and you don't walk like a penguin in them. Had a couple of crashes with them (I polo in them too) and slid along the floor a couple times, the canvas holds up really well.
I'll be ordering some midway pros as soon as I have some funds. -

Kursks are good! I have had a pair of size 10s for a while but they are a tiny bit too small and on long rides I start to get numbness. I love them so much I still wear them!
I might be selling them though to get a bigger pair...

I love the normal Kursk and it's the only model of shoes I wear regularly in any occasion. Given that I couldn't get along with the Pro model very well.
They're quite cool while on the bike as they look exactly like the normal ones and they don't look like the classic bike shoes with cleats at all but walking in them for more than 100 meters is a pain. The soil is of course very rigid in order to maintain the stability of the foot while pedalling but it makes very difficult to walk in them.
Or maybe it's just my feet...

I bought a pair quite recently and am very impressed. The soles are (surprisingly) stiff so they ride really well, and the recesses are deep enough for cleats to be barely noticeable when walking (well, SPDs anyway, haven't tried with anything else). They're not massively comfortable off the bike, but they're fine once the fabric softens up a bit.

Yeah I found the cleat holes recessed enough not to be tap dancing whilst walking too, using Times.

Too narrow for my plates of meat

Perfect shoe to have on and off the bike but make sure you you get the right size as I found them a smaller fit than the sizing suggested. I've just gotten the midways 1 size up and they're perfect.
I have a pair of Kursk non SPD black and red size 10, I think they only do US sizes, going for £40 as they have minimal wear in the sole so couldn't take them back, but look as new from above.

I love my Kursk SPD shoes
Had them for about 8 months and they are still holding up solid, through all this rain!
I wear them all day at work, I find them comfortable.I like them so much I wanna buy the non SPD version too.
I got mine here: http://www.urban-cyclery.co.uk/shop/chrome-shoes-kursk-pro-spd-cycling-shoes/

So, I finally got my DZR shoes and Egg Beater pedals ready to use, here is my opinion.
First i had to cut the rubber bit in the sole that was covering the holes for the cleat, real pain in the arse to do and i don't see why they put it there anyway, then the rubber sole got in the way of the pedal so i couldn't really clip in and out properly and safely, so i had to use extra spacers under the cleat, which i found odd and annoying.
I done a few rides with them now, after about 5 miles my feet start to ache more than they should, especially my right one for some reason, i can feel the hole in the nylon shank and i think the edges of that dig in a bit, but i found the sole handy when i clip out and i can easily stand on the pedal with the middle of my foot, handy for red lights n so on.
There not to bad to walk in, I walked down the road to the local shop easily enough, but they could be better
but i may be a be being a bit negative, there not that bad at all, i think i will end up getting some Sidi's for longer rides and use my DZR for shorter and more chilled rides, or maybe just get the Chrome shoe's...

ive been looking for a crappy size 8 sole to cut up one of my million pairs of old vans as that would be cheaper but have had no luck so Im trying to decide between chrome and dzr's..

^^ Try out the DZRs with some cheapo Shimano SPDs rather than the eggbeaters, you might get on with them better.

• #524
Will do, thanks!
my feet just wobble all over the place in Eggbeaters

I use time atacs with my dzr's, never had a problem. Sounds like yours are defective in some way though I can walk around in mine all day like normal shoes and do 40+ miles in them with no problem.
spotter, what price would make you buy them?
