I specifically built up the bike the way it is to annoy you PJ
Then it's money very well spent, i should say!

nice ride
Good luck with the hub on that Hed Disc, mine only lasted a couple of months of street abuse.. However your using a brake so you should be ok. -
• #60
is that a freewheel!!?
-

that was a real nice bike when it was first built up which i had the pleasure to ride (briefly)
it now looks like a style exercise built by somebody who has never ridden a bike.
it's a joke build for a laugh isn't it? -
• #62
looking nice!
-
• #63
awesome.
my critique, for what it's worth would be:
needs black cranks! Black sugino 75s?
for me that orangey gold lever throws it.
not feeling the flat bars.otherwise tremendous.

i was baffled by the langster chainring too. (amongst other things, obviously).

I specifically built up the bike the way it is to annoy you PJ - and just to really piss you i am having a custom Kantana lo pro built up later in the year, which i will never ride, but put it and the Condor on the roof of my range rover sport (custom number plate F1 XIE) which i do a daily circuit from BLB to Spitafields in twice a day.
I have some carbon cranks coming for it, the track spacing kit from HED now comes with a lockring . .
The bike serves no purpose other than to put a smile on my face, its dressed up for a night on the town in the pics, but i have a set of black open pros laced to formula hubs for the humdrum of day to day riding
:D
I laughed !

So Peeps apart from the headset, lever, cranks, chainring, pedals, flatbars, silver sidewall and holy fuck weak alignment of front tyre logo to valve its the ultimate pub bike.
Good effort. -

not quite my thang either, but there you go. VV, you do know that these frames are not warrantied for road use? I was chatting to one of the guys in condor at length about their track / fixed frames last month, and he told me that they refused a warranty replacement on this frame cos it had been used on the road*. Not saying that yours is gonna break, but it's made for a nice smooth track (geometry, brazing, etc) and not for the nasty potholed streets...
*possibly by some pinkshirted 17 stone trader...

those frames are tight, stiff and tall as fuck. on the road, harsh. On the track, responsive.
and yes they ain't warrantied for road use sfaik, but they ain't road bikes.
if you want a condor road fixed get a pista or tempo

Lovely frame, other than that...
Keep smiling!

Ha . . some of the response to the build are brilliant . . . seriously i built this up as i wanted to build something crazy, totally impractical and with not a nod to any sort of sensible road worthyness, pure style over substance. I wanted to put every arrospoking HHSB'ing part i could find on it, like i said its built to put a smile on my face. This bike is never going to see a daily commute, just wheeled out on a sunny day for a bit of fixed fun.
I have no intention of using it as a daily ride with those wheels on, as i stated above they are for special occasions, i have plenty of other wheelsets for daily use if needed . . . in fact i am lucky enough to have plenty of other bikes for daily use, this bike is in effect the dirty whore of a mistress i go see for when i want to get nasty.
The sugino cranks are temporary, as i am awaiting some rather special carbon cranks with a solid carbon 52t chainring on it (again totally not suitable or warrantied for road use, silly me!). I also have a set of Easton EC90 Carbon track bars for it and NOS 105 Cage pedals that will go on when the carbon drivetrain arrives.
The HED has an SS on it as we (me and Simon at SBR) were trying to find a way of spacing out the hub to get a rideable chainline so i could test ride the wheel whilst waiting for the spacing kit to arrive, and we tried various SS which nearly did the trick but not quite enough to risk using.
Anyway if you happen to be pedaling through West London and see me in a heap at the side of the road after an innocent passing peds fart blows me and my disc wheeled HHSB over please feel free to stop and laugh with/at me, and should you wish feel fee to sling your leg over and give her a good seeing too as well.

Ignore all the doom mongers, I have heard it all before. . . "mountain bike ? A mountain bike ?? On the Roads ?? Are you mad, just get a road bike." . . . "Why do you need suspension riding through London ?" . . . "There are no mountains in London" . . . etc etc . . . . zzzzZZZzzZZZZ . . .
Same old shit time after time, just ignore it.
If you want to commute on a mountain bike, a track bike, a Brompton, a BMX or a time trial frame just get on with it. I rode a full suss frame around for a couple of years, was it efficient ? No. Was it fast ? Not really, but fast enough ? It was great fun though.
If we followed the wisdom of the bike Nazis everyone would be riding around on grey hybrids.

i agree, Tynan. And i admire VinylVillains attitude of standing up and saying he's done it because he loves it. who the fuck cares if it's technically proper for this or that purpose ? the cycle snobbery round here is getting a bit dull..
Still nice :P
