Basically, every single image ever posted on the internet can have some offensive feature found in it by people who are looking to be offended, usually on behalf of somebody else they never bother to consult about the matter.

Meanwhile, pro-democracy protesters are being shot dead in Кіїв, mainly to please Vladimir Putin. I only have so much outrage to spare against Russians, I think I'll give Ms.Zhukova a pass this time.

I've been reading reports from a dude in Ukraine (and this has been reported in the press as well) over the last few weeks and the political make up of the protesters - in particular the more "protesty" ones - is less uniform than that perhaps.

Nonetheless, what's going on there is extraordinary.

I'm sure that's true, as it always is with protests everywhere - a large group of well-meaning and peaceful people provides cover for a small group of nutters who just want to have a crack at the cops. We've all seen it enough times in London, after all. On the other hand, there would be no large well-meaning group on the streets to provide such cover if Yanukovich hadn't set out to sell Ukraine down the river to the very nasty Russian regime.

It's very arrogant to claim to know the thoughts of others - how in the world could we possibly know what the intentions of the photographer, or of the woman in the photo (she does have worth outside of her partner, y'know).

The only stirring has been of righteous anger from the "defenders of the downtrodden". The downtrodden themselves, as ever, have more important things to worry about.
