DT shifters are a pain if you're massive though, which BN clearly is!
meconium wins with every bike he posts. The picture wouldn't load for ages but I knew it would be worth the wait.

All done. Can't wait for the ride tomorrow !

Seatpost is hmm but the rest of that build is a job very well done.
Before someone comes along to tell you you need compacts, I quite like the bars.

Apart from the seatpost, lovely.

Got a photo? Did he put the same bearings back in that were hammered out? They would almost be certainly damaged in the process. Frame might not be toast, but yeah, you want that put right.
Have the frame with me now. Yep, he re-installed the same bearings, after pushing them too far into the frame and bashing them out with a hammer and small metal rod. Looks fucked to be honest. The grooves where the circlips insert are all chewed up, and there are chips on the smooth surfaces where the bearings sit. Not up for trying to use it in it's current state, especially as BB30 is famously temperamental anyway. I want a clean installation from day 1 to avoid issues later. Don't want to be on a massive ride somewhere and getting problems. The second bike shop said it's basically scrap now. Will wait for the first place to sort out some cash for a new frame, and then will think what to do with this one. Probably just sell it as it is, with a warning and photos of the damage. Someone might repair it and be happy with it, but not me. Will post a photo tomorrow.

is it not possible to convert it to PF30? (absolutely 0 idea if this is actually possible)

Not enough metal to bore it out from 42mm (BB30) to 46mm (PF30). The Praxis converter would probably allow a fairly fucked up BB30 shell to be used with HT2/GXP cranks.

Fucking hell, quite frankly, I would not go back to that shop again if they did not know how to service a BB30 bottom bracket.
Especially when they don't have the necessary tools in the first place.
Sound like the frame is a write off now, time to get them to pony up for a new CAAD10, ensure the bike shop that you got the damage assessed to write down in details about what happen.

All done already, cheers Ed. Just waiting to hear back from the first place now. I feel bad for the owner as they're very nice, it's just the mechanic who's a twerp.

The other advantage is converting your damaged CAAD10 into a fixed wheel bicycle by putting an eccentric BB in it.
If it's not that fucked of course.

• #93814
i'd just put a bb in the eccentric wrench Edward

What size straggler is that? Been looking at them but the headtube length is soo short.

If they get you a new frame, the old one is theirs.

Fitted the front mudguard to my wife's new build last night. I assumed these forks were made for 27" wheels, but I was struggling to fit a 25c + mudguard on it, so I'm guessing they're 700c and not original because the back wheel is 27" and needed a long reach caliper.
I had to file out and bend the tab for the mudguard attachment at the brake hole. I could've bought a Sheldon nut, but I didn't. The mudguard rubs on the tire until the brake arms are squeezed in. This isn't an issue because the brake is fully open at the moment and when I squeezed the arms into where they would normally sit, it's fine. Worse come to worse and I'll file the top of the mudguard.
I need to tidy the tab up a bit and bend it better. I ran out of time last night.

I'll chime in here with my usual daruma suggestion.
You can make one yourself out of a stainless eyebolt too.

I might go down that path. The biggest issue I have is the mudguard can't go any higher because it hits the bottom of the fork.
I'll see how it all goes once I put the bike together.

64cm and yeah, the headtube ( as with the crosscheck & several other surly models ) comes up quite short.
This has a 198mm headtube, but a lovely stretched out 640mm ETT, so I don't need to fit a 'pro length' stem to get comfortable :-)

What a fucking shambles. Please PM me and let me know who it was? Given the mess the wrench made it's unlikely they'll be a Cannondale dealer which potentially will make the process of getting a replacement somewhat agonising.
If / when they do pay for it please keep hold of the botched one if you can - it's likely the shop will bin it which would be a sad end for a nice friend. It could probably still be converted to BSA or tidied up and run as intended.

Autocorrect? Or do you really get that close to your bikes, Howard?

I had the exact same problems trying to fit some guards yesterday.

[QUOTE=TM;4257631Been waiting for JB to post me some tyres for a few week[/QUOTE]
He said he'd give me them too, good luck
Good stuff. Looks like it'll be fun.
I'be been running fixed with two brakes and (usually) mudguards on my pomp for about a year now. It's underrated.
