got it back from Armourtex on friday , waiting for some finishing parts from ebay. couldnt wait to take her out for a burn , So dressed her with what was in the parts bin, bit of a mish mash.
always a good feeling, the first outing on a new bike.
looks nice....
BTW if you think that is a bit of mish mash you obviously haven't seen my bike quite well matched in comparison ... nice work.
EDIT: completely well matched in comparison.

blame the wife for that one

At last, finished first build. Phew - what mission/learning curve. Still got some tinkering to do (seat post isn't fixed yet - but i'm a short arse!) Geometry's a bit weird and not sure of the bars. Other than that fairly chuffed with the end result - and fuckit, it's ready to ride.......

nearly but not quite there. waiting for bars, BB and saddle before progressing.
never built up a geared road bike so it's going to take me ages sorting cable lengths and indexing gears. I have some FSA carbon cranks that somebody is lending me but am thinking of replacing them later with either new dura-ace or maybe the old 'normal' silver dura-ace or possibly even the new ultegra. carbon cranks are nice but i don't know if they suit the frame. -

Did it not come with the original fork?

Just picked this up of Fruitbat
Plan is to strip and respray it (or powdercoat if I can shoehorn more money) black with either white or silver lug lining
Won't powdercoating make the lugs look shit (smoothed over and lacking detail)? I'd have thought spraying would work better on a frame with nice lugs.

i agree with the idea that powdercoating a lugged framed kind of ruins the beauty
i prefer a proper wet paint job with lug lining
but its not coming out of any of our pockets and sometimes funds contain ideas -

Not really actually, it look perfectly fine when powercoated, look at alex's green raleight and the benetto, the lug appear to be fine.

This is my "nice commuter". Been rolling for a few months, and I'm almost there tweaking the set up - I flirted with bullhorns for a while, but these drops are sooo much nicer to ride with. I'm on the look out for a 100mm Cinelli 1A, and once I've removed the siezed drive side pedal there are some gorgeous Shimano 600 road pedals/clips/straps to go on.

powdercoating definitely does kill the detail a little bit, lugs look much crisper with enamel.

My pug just gone for powerder coating. Hopefully the lugs still look nice.

True, but it is a really strong finish. There's not so much as a scratch on it after 3 months riding almost everyday.
