  • right we are then.

    Ugly(ish) but decent.

  • this. apologies for the quality, I was cycling at the time

    DIY derny ftw.

  • For a girlfrend.
I might go with 600 Arabesque group that I have with no other use.

  • ^ lovely

  • Looking for pulley to convert a standard triple front der to top pull on an old Ibis Hakkalugi frame. I do not need / want a clamp on pulley as I have the proper screw mount for a pulley on the frame. Anyone have a source - can't seem to have much luck with the googling.

I also need a front der clamp (should be 31.8) so I am also looking at finding an appropriate triple top pull front derailleur that works with a campy triple group for not too much monies - should be better that using a pulley anyway.

  • Gaston's having a car boot sale.

    :-)

  • FastBlack, now were talking!

  • People are awesome...

  • :d

  • skrtluv?

  • Gaston, I love you, but get those French forks off that Colnago.

  • ^^

    1" forks... any suggestion ?

  • A chat with Cupcakes today and some thinking I've been doing lately have got me considering swapping two of my bikes for one which fulfils the role better.

Bike 1 is a Pompetamine with guards and a rack. Running single speed with a cassette hub adapter. Heavy and a tank but very sensible, I don't really enjoy riding it but it is quite comfortable and very practical.

Bike 2 is a relatively new addition, a beautiful 853 Claud Butler frame with webbed lugs, built up with a Sram drivetrain. Not practical at all - very aggressive geometry and no mudguard or rack mounts - but great fun to ride and very fast.

For commuting I occasionally need the practicality of a rack, and mudguards are useful too. For longer rides in poor conditions I'd like something with gears which I enjoy riding.

What could I get that would combine the two nicely, and still be a little bit 'special', ie not another On-One or Surly type thing? Which I would get for the price of selling the other two, or a frame for the price of selling the Pompetamine complete and the stripped 853 frame?

  • Bob Jackson? would you get £500 for the complete pomp and frame? i dno

  • Anyone else on here run 25mm Rubinos by any chance?

If so, how wide do they come up on your rims, and how wide are your rims (preferably int width)?

I've got them on 23mm wide rims, with a 19mm internal width, and they is just about 25mm wide, so wondering if they normally come up really narrow.

  • What could I get?

Given your love for all things 853, this might work. SRAM kit off the Claud should swap straight over except that you'll need (tester_approved Tektro) deep drop calipers.

  • get those French forks off that Colnago.

    Time, obvs. :-)

That's really nice and a good price, Genesis was my first thought as well. If only there was one which was 853 AND disc compatible.

  • I hadn't realised the disc version wasn't 853... Sorry.

  • 853 + disc brake http://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/bikes/frames/adventure/fugio but it's a CX frame rather than a disc road bike, more towards the Pompetamine than the Claud.

    Hah.

Nah, those Look ones are no doubt very good but I'm so used to seeing straight forks on those frames they look a bit odd. Colnago Star / Force / Flash / Street would be ideal.

My Rubino Pro Tech 28s are not quite 28mm wide on 20mm (ext.) rims, I guess they make Rubinos skinny to keep the weight down.
