  • what spacing do you need?

  • standard tark, 120mm rear

  • Are you trying to avoid lockring threads or threaded cogs or both?

  • I have not confirmed this yet, but I think if you fit a pair of hope rear 10mm bolt on spacers to a front hub the spacing will end up about 120mm.
I'm not sure if they will fit though, but kind of expect so.

  • Neoretro Merckx Winter Beater.

Both, as I said I've have 3 wheels set that use ISO and I've found it better in every regard. I will admit the only place it falls short is if you need to run a cog 15t or smaller for the track, but I don't so their perfect for me.

Do you mean the Pro II evo?

I'd love to use Hope as I know their great quality, the thing is that would leave me using a qr on the rear which is not ideal.

  • yes, the pro 2. if axle diameter is the same front and rear, you should be able to fit a rear conversion kit to 10mm bolt on. no qr.
edit: a rear non drive side spacer is 17.5mm longer than the front right side. If it fit and if the other side is 2.5mm longer, you have 120mm spaced hub with I think 43.5mm chain line... :-/

Ok, makes sense. Would have suggested some of the splined cog+lockring solutions otherwise.

Presumably I could then match it with a Pro 3 for the front. Can anyone suggest an axle I could use?
    Saw your edit

Were you thinking of the Halo fix G?

ISO bolt on seems to be more of a 'standard' so I didn't get one only for them to go the way of the Charge Shaker

Which they no longer make or make cogs for.

  • You can use hex key skewers no?

  • ^ yes, but I don't trust them as much as a real axle.

If Hope actually got round to releasing their 'Fixee' hub I'd snap them up (despite the god awful name)

I see that Wheelies actual claim to stock them, but as they're the same company as Tredz (who are famously lying bastards about what they actually have in stock) I very much doubt they exist.

  • Mack do an ISO bolt on if you can be bothered dealing with them.

  • I don't fancy waiting a year for my hubs to be made though

  • QR + chaintug?

Forgot about the Hope offering, one day...

  • QR + chaintug?

Sounds like a real bodge job

  • How so? Seen it used for SS mountain bikes and hub gears, no reason why it wouldn't work for something fixed...

  • I wouldn't want to trust that, especially if I was brakeless.

  • ^ Exactly

I just spoke to Hope, as I suspected Wheelies are also a bunch of filthy liars, they don't have them, no one does. The Guy at hope did say that they're currently building up a stock of the BMX hubs (which should be done by the end of the month) they're about to release then they'll be starting to machine up the 'Fixee' ready for stocking.

  • Custom made then? Got to be able to get it done for less than £240 for Phil's ISO hub...

  • Could you not get a custom axle machined then? If you're really worried… can't imagine getting a 10mm bolt through made would be that difficult

did you ask about conversion kit front/rear compatibility? ;-)

  • ^I did, he said I'd have to get an axle custom made.

£240 for one hub is too rich for my blood. I think I'll just have to splash out on the Surly Ultras

    boo. thanks.

Yes there is. The axle gets pushed both ways riding fixed.

SS with a QR is fine but the QR needs to be good. Some surfaces on the dropouts are better than other too. Fixed is a different story.
