Next?

• #88754
go for claris /scoble

for some people though, the poorer option is still more than sufficient. and in such a case horseshit arguments are just as valid as science squabbles.
I went for calipers knowing they were the poorer option, but I'm now considering taking a pair of alloy wheels with me to Norway in case it rains- something I'd not have thought of if I'd gone for discs.

Go for cantis
Or the v-brakes? :p

rim brakes on carbon make any argument invalid

^^ cantis on the back so v brakes would look weird imo

Oh it's just the forks you're getting, sorry didn't realise it was all built.
Disc brake front/canti rear would look weirder.
1). if canti brake performance is good, stay with them.
2). if not, v brakes front and rear.
3). if you need MOAR POWER and don't care for looks, disc brake front

Disc always, I loved my centerpull, but there's only so much a rim brakes can do.

^ judging by how your brakes were set up on Dave, anything would have been an improvement.
A professional I.e not butters set then up on the pacer. They still didn't hold a candle to the discs. The main reason I like discs isn't even the power, it's the reliability in all weather conditions. Is great.

Having ridden hydraulic on the MTB, I was very anal about setting up that disc on your Genesis so it'll feel almost exactly like a hydraulic.

I like to print arguments over which braking system out, in bold, 1.5 spacing, wing dings font, size 42, and throw them in front of my wheels to stop.

for a tapered headtube if you opted for discs as you would need / want that.
You need a 44mm head tube whatever you're doing about brakes these days. Straight-gauge steerers are rapidly going the way of the dinosaurs, all the good stuff is 1½"/1⅛" now. 44mm head tube lets you use a cheap/old 1⅛" fork now with the option of a nice modern fork later with only a change to the lower headset bearing.
If I were buying a custom road frame now, I'd want disc tabs and hose guides in the rear triangle, even if I wasn't going to use them yet.

Purchasing with an eye to the future is so last week on this forum.

Id bet money most riders couldent tell the difference between a tapered fork and a regular 11/8th all else beeing equal. If one is a heavy dude and usually think todays 11/8 forks feels flexy by all means try a tapered. Personally i think it looks poor on certain frames with thin tubing and if you are going to use a 11/8th fork why bother paying the upcharge for 44 head tube? There will be 11/8 forks around for longer than most keep their bikes imo. The current stream of new standards from the industry makes one wonder how long the tapered forks will be around.

I thought you'd sold everything but the Cougar?

• #88772
I did, and that lasted 3 days, this was a mega bargin. I will be selling the Cougar shortly though.

Poor Cougar.
I think the Langdale is a rear hub away from porn.

Thanks, I think I will eventually get TB14's on Phils or something similar. The chubs are staying for a while though.

dry, i now this is shit, but hit a brother up when you want rid. it's so sexaaaaay
I have just made an inquiry about columbus max forks for my oak commuter / winter bike / gravel bike when it's sunny and they're affordable. Should I spec disc brake tabs as this is an option for not much more, or will the max blades not be able to endure the forces?
argument...go!
