^With a BCD of 110 I wouldn't be able to put on a smaller inner ring unfortunately, the "big ring" would be an ideal size though :)

Think it's already got an 11-29 :p
I like to ride my road bike with a 28-28 bottom gear and I'm not exactly unfit haha!

**Can anyone suggest a solution? **If you know of any cranks that fit the bill, or whether I should look into converting a triple etc
We had a Middleburn rep came into work with their crankset similar to the White Industries, they have an example with 46/30.
Other choice is the Velo Orange, however covering a triple would work, my girlfriend have 46/30 but the big ring is a chainguard;
Thing is, you can get used to the gear you're stuck with (like a fixed wheel bicycle), so a standard 50/34 would be fine, she also have a classic 52/39 on her road bike yet still managed pretty well, faster than me though.
Another choice is an MTB double crankset with a bigger ring.

Mate I would be splashing the cash (that I don't have), but having just persuaded her to spend £475 on a bike probably the most she's ever spent I dont think I can bring her round to the idea of £150+ cranksets :p
I do get evans trade though but I doubt i can find any i'm looking for with them

Special order a Claris crankset with 46/34 instead, cheap as chip, and 34/29 is plentiful to start.

Claris is a bit pointless, since Tiagra is so cheap and uses a modern BB. 2400 is strictly for OEMs to whom £50 on a whole groupset really matters, for the rest of us saving <£10 on a crankset which uses an outdated Octalink BB is silly.

Might be cheap enough with trade price and Claris come in 46/34 rather than buying a new chainring.

But 8% lower gearing on the big ring isn't really where the problem lies, you can just use one cog lower at the back and be level again.

Vittorio rando as a fixed CX/commuter. It's already in SSCX thread, but as it's a current project, posting it here as well. Fitted new tyres and brakes. Riding on hoods is so much better than on risers. Need to adjust the brakes, so still skidding to stop. Feels weird on big tyres.

I still ned to relace the rear to match the front (open 4cd) and find a nice short black quill stem, as I don't like the ahed here.

I have a 25.4 black quill available for sale if your interested?
Guessing you'll want 26.0 though? -

What length Joss?
My girlfriend recently bought a lovely second hand Pearson "Easy come easy go", although it has a double crankset on the front with quite high gearing at 53-39.
Bearing in mind that she's not a pro cyclist, and would like to carry some luggage and go up steep hills etc, I think it would be great to get her a compact crankset.
Although something smaller than the bog standard 50-34 would be useful, something like 44-28. And I know White industries/Sugino have some great cranks that fit the bill but unfortunately cost an absolute bomb.
So...
