  • Hot pink/neon yellow/black fadez...

  • stick a spare big chain ring in there until you sort it out. Like the below crap picture but you should only need one ring

Ahh yes, of course, i'd forgotten that! Cheers

  • Not sold on a hi viz finish, blue to purple sparkle fade however...

    What rack is that BTW?

  • Quick mash up, waiting for the Zipp seatpost and GXP italian threaded BB to install the Omniums with Zen ring!

Lekker. And I dont think this needs 4zr's ;)

  • This arrived today(thanks Doug). Has been rolling between owners for a while. Once owned by Belgian rider Pedro Plancker.

Really want to track down some appropriate forks. Round blade, flat crown, Columbus....Anyone have a pair of forks they want to sell?

Not exactly sure what direction to take the build.... I know i want to save the paint, it really needs to be sorted before it gets worse, was rusting under the heli tape used to protect it..... . Ideas?

Such a beaut. Looking forward to seeing it built up properly. Served me well for a bit!

  • Get some red scotch-bright on that thing and just straight lacquer it.

  • Rossin SLX arrived today. I was INCREDIBLY happy (came with lots of unmentioned Dura Ace), but I'm pretty sure it's been crashed at some point. The Forks aren't original: they're not MAX, they weigh more than some SLX forks I have and the paint is different to the frame, and there's a slight bulge in the downtube.

To me, it looks like the geometry is fucked, the front wheel downtube clearance seems too tight with both sets of forks I tried, suggesting that it's merked.

Any ideas? I'm panicking slightly as the seller is a bit of a moron and I really, really can't be arsed to send it all back.

At least the frame is Rossin, and SLX. I just hope it's not had it.

    Loads of pictures here:

  • Though having said that, front clearance doesn't look much more severe than other pictures on a google image search.

    Those ARE 25c tyres.

  • Finally finished building my commutery/beatery bike.

Only took 11 months, due to laziness.

  • Stripped decals off Pro Chrome with nail varnish remover, got to say I think it's an improvement.

so looking forward to going for a spin on it. thanks again.

yup, i think you are right. going to take off the rust and lacquer it.....

  • The Caad9 has seen some improvements recently but i have been too lazy to photo. Race day last weekend so it's a good excuse..

  • Will probably shorten the nokon at some point, and definitely lose half the excess steerer.

  • Oh well, built Rossin up and it looks fine to my eye.
Debating taking it to Bob Jackson as that rust is pretty SRS BSNS.

  • It looks fantastic.

  • Yeah, nice, innit. Looks better in photos than in the flesh. I might go for pearlescent white with a respray, but I want to check that the frame isn't merked first (it's been crashed I think). Seems straight to me and rides fine though. I'll take it out round the hills tomorrow and se how it goes.

  • I agree, very nice bike!
Dont repaint, theres plenty pearl white bikes out there allrdy.

  • ...I might go for pearlescent white with a respray...

    I will hunt you down!

  • ^ a joke. Not an actual threat of death.

  • Probably.

  • Thanks guys. The rust is really serious though, so I need to do something with it.

    I can't afford a four colour respray!

  • Wire wool, white spirit, some elbow grease and some clear nail varnish has always worked for me. Just buff back the rust until it's clean metal and apply a couple of thin coats of varnish. It keeps the patina/character keeps things rust free.

I got some of the rust off the chrome with silver foil. I might have to get the vinegar and wire wool on it as well. It'd be nice to not have to repaint as it's pretty wild as it is, looking forward to admiring glances from all the 'steel-is-real' people around here.

BB shell is stamped with 'SLX' and '56'. No serial. Anyone know anything about identifying Rossins?

  • Dandy - can you remove the wheel decals? that would improve it aesthetically and shave some weight

Unfortunately not, being triathlete wheels, they have also built the front hub in backwards which kind of annoys me. But they are nice and fast, got me a win this weekend..

Will also look a bit less shouty when that tape dies and I get some nologo.
