Still deciding on brakes. Should be built by October, unless I buy new wheels for the road bike.

  • As much as it pains me admit, I think you're right :-( My regular road bike for a while now has been a Canyon 62cm, which suits me quite well (I'm 6.4). That frame is 58 c-c and the top tube is 58,5. The Look is 57.5 c-c and top tube 57.5, so I was thinking: saddle a bit higher and a slightly longer stem. I feel really good on the Look, but after while my knee starts to hurt ... next day I ride the Canyon - no problems with the knees :-(

    You need this;

  • Bingo! Finally got a bottle cage for the dot com! =)

My knees are quite sensitive to q-factor. Is that different for your two bikes?

  • Which one is that? Looks decent.

  • half link chain and not slammed rear wheel

  • half link chain and not slammed rear wheel

Track gear/Road gear. Can't be slammed.

  • Maybe get a second chain?

  • Thanks for all the suggestions on how to make the Look fit!! I really want it to happen. I put on 180 cranks - perhaps that's one of the issues too? I have another Campy Record set with shorter arms

  • Ha, the amount of time people have told hoke to get a new chain...

He just won't listen, there's no point.

  • He did once, but then sent it back to canyon

180mm mean you'll need to increase your seatpost height little more.

I'm surprised they didn't let him know, and return it tbh.

  • Wrong way round scoble, he will need to lower it

Dont know if they noticed, they actually were reselling his canyon with the chain still on it

  • what? on the website?

  • Wrong way round scoble, he will need to lower it

Not quite, lowering it mean your knees will be closer to your chest.

  • Not quite, lowering it mean your knees will be closer to your chest.

erm, ed. a longer crank arm will put the foot further down when in the bottom position. you need to lower the saddle. and yes, your knee will get closer to the chest when pedal is in top position.

  • It's not exactly idea to have your knees closer to your chest, unless you're very inflexible, it's usually better to raise it a tad to compensate.

  • Ed, I think what people are pointing out is that if you move the lowest point that the pedal reaches as it rotates on the crank down 5mm then you'll need to either lower the saddle, or get longer legs.

If you raise your saddle then your going to exacerbate the effect.

  • Impulse to build a new bike today so I've ordered

    Dolan frame
    Alpina integral headset
    Alpina CX carbon forks
    SRAM S300 crankset
    Alpina seat post
    Fizik Arione saddle
    Cinelli stem
    Cinelli bars

Should be good for winter riding, off road trails (HotN) and belgian cobbles next year :)

I'm after H PLUS SON archetype rims. Does anyone know who stocks these in the UK?

  • think kinoko has gun metal on very attractive sale price ATM. all the usual suspects stock them.
