  • ha - you're the second person who's told me they were watching that. I emailed the seller and agreed a very agreeable price - he was a really lovely bloke.

There is a slim chance it will be a touch too big for me. In which case we can do a swap for your CAAD frame :)

  • bought this to replace my dearly departed Canyon winter/commuter/not-so-nice bike:

It's getting Rival, some Dura ace hubs laced to proper open pro ceramics, mudguards and some other stuff. I might even build a bike with matching finishing kit for once too..

Nooooooooooooooooo - I was hoping to get that, gutted to see the listing had ended early this morning. Enjoy, you lucky bugger :)

  • number 3!

  • It was one of those bikes you see on eBay and have practically built up in your head before you realise you don't actually own it yet....

Your build sounds nicer than I was planning anyway, look forward (ish) to seeing it finished

  • my build is turning out to be reasonably expensive :(

I'm just not going to look at my bank balance until the beginning of next month - everything will be ok by then I hope.

  • Why not?

When I price matched a bike last time the store was not on the list but they still did.

Fair enough. Still not sure on the Genesis though. May very well get the Pinnacle and then swap out the frame for a Kinesis Pro 6 in a few months when I've got more cash :-)

Feeling this, I've spent my entire bike budget on the parts, and frame deposit, so I'm gna have to pay off the final frame cost on a credit card. oops.

  • That really is a lovely frame. Can't wait to see it built up.

  • Picked up my track bike today!

  • ^ Herne Hill soon?

  • With any luck! As soon as I'm not working full time going to go London/Brighton and hit up a track

Today show that the Open Pro Ceramics is pretty shit, especially in the rain after 3,000km (dad's bike).

It actually took longer to wash off the water from the rims than a normal rims + koolstop.

  • This frame had the rear seat stay professionally repaired.
I'm thinkin about putting a steel track fork on instead

  • nahh keep carbon, it will ride better! those forks look perfect for it anyway.

  • ^^You know yourself, keep this fork if you want to put a brake...
you also have the solution wound up

The frame is exciting chboinggg, the seatpost and the crank are cool, the rest is average for my taste.
    good luck

  • ^ Shamal doesn't have enough spokes for your liking?

  • Needs ridding of those stickers. Frame like that deserves better!

This must be Auckland with a CGK sticker.

  • ^Wound ups would look so good on that!

  • If its the frame I think it is, it did have Wound Ups on it.

They are notoriously shit in the wet with normal pads ed. Fine with the right ones.

Thanks for the cool story though

  • Anyone know where I can get a replacement axle for a rear formula track hub?

  • number 3!

    Make that four!
Although I almost never would have bought it...

Still doesn't stop me watching this one as well though dammit :p

I did with the right one (swissstop ceramic, and the rims worn a bit now.

The Rigida rims are much better.

  • My sputniks are the bane of my life. Tyres will not pop their beed to where they need to be unless I use washing up liquid (not great out on the road!), and no rim tape in existence will fit both the narrow well and cover the humongous sharp, rusty brass eyelets.

Great fun to ride though. A little CX on the commute? Don't mind if I do.
