Just put a wide-range cassette on my road bike: wasn't supposed to work. Supposed to either interfere with short rear mech or snap chain on big/big. But it just works - fingers crossed.

Does it work in the stand or have you ridden it?

TM, that's cool as fuck.
I don't want to say you've polished a turd, but that's the best looking one I've seen.
Better than Pisti's I reckon.
Also, one of the first bikes that makes a spok look something other than shit.

Build the Vivalo into a nice bike and use the brother as a commuter/runabout... it's nice to have a big ride/special occasion/sunny day bike innit.
Pretty much what i'm doing now, just means i ride the Vivalo less which is sad.
also id like a more specific bike for longer rides, so i can take the bottle cage off the Vivalo.

Took it up the road and went through each gear. Only half a mile but no nasty surprises.

Cheers fam!
I think what would suit it best would be a rear clincher disc, or a decent/tidy home made disc, but I'm shit at DIY stuff. (if anyone wants to make me a disc I would be very grateful indeed!)

Well, you can go either way, build an awesome ratty runabout or a nice bike. I have one of each, with very different setups. I'm saying I'd have the brother as a runabout and the vivalo as a nice bike, but you build what you think you'll enjoy more!

I don't really need both as my commuting needs are pretty lame at the moment, which is why i bring it up/think about it.
but yes what you say is sensible, if i changed the cogs and the bars they are pretty much the same style bike.

Well, the Condor is set up for long fast fair weather rides, DA hubs, deep carbon, getting compacts and levers back on there... Donohue is set up as a runabout, risers, sealed hubs, bit of rust... Done long rides on both of them and Condor is so much better for those occasions, wouldn't want to ride it everywhere though, as I said, it's good to have a bike for those rides....

I only ever ride the orlowski to show off. It's rarely even in a ridable state.

ugly but quite light and nice to ride

Bit pricey!
-
• #80445
cheaper than a clincher discwheel

With shipping and without tax, it's over £90... And re-sale value of next to nothing.
Would rather wait and have your disc (;
...and for £100, I reckon I could learn some DIY ha...

Yeah about the same here, i also got my Orbit low pro to, not ride-able at the moment though, but that's great for a runabout, pretty ratty to actually.
Shame the paint on the Brother is so scratched for a new frame, id loose a lot if i sold it now

a mate has one of those brothers and they're pretty nice frames. What is stopping you using it every day and enjoying it? Just that you're not riding the Viv?
Can't ride everything at once.

It's a tough call I reckon!
