I haz Hutchinson Atom comp for the front - rolls fast & feels lovely
(Not a recommendation if you're after puncture proofing tho) -

Hmmm, just seen that TFG has Rivendell tyres in stock.
Pity they don't do the Roll-y Pol-y though.

wouldn't the ruffy tuffy be more adequate now, we're talking puncture resistant tyres?

Bought this as I thought it was a bargain and they never come up in my size.
Now to start saving for parts.
Thanks go to Vesalius for posting it in ebay finds.

^^ I've been looking for a <300g fast rolling 28c tyre, and really quite liked the look of the Rivendell Roll-y Pol-y 700c x 28, but also like the Schwalbe Ultremo ZX 28c, and the Challenge Paris-Roubaix 27c that Ed still hasn't got back to me about!

^^ Is that a 953 Rourke?! Lovely.

Don't know how much they weigh, but 28c pro race 4's have done me over 1500 miles now with two flats.

Yeah 953 its so light, If I'm being picky the paint and finish on the decals is a little sloppy. I just need to decide what to do with it now!

Er, which version of the Pro 4's, Service Course or Endurance?!
Looks like they don't do one... possible wind up? 0_o

Yeah off gumtree £400 posted

^^ Really?
The Conti 4 Season 28s I've got on at the mo weigh in at only 250g.
Was hoping to find a more supple, faster rolling tyre, still with the larger volume that I've come to prefer for long days in the saddle, as roads round here are appalling.
Got more risk of serious injury from the road surfaces than the lorries thundering past in some areas, and a few roads I refuse to ride at all.
^ Damn thats a good price mate!
Hope you treat it well and look forward to seeing full build.
Any idea on what groupset and forks?

All conti's feel like shit. ;-)
If you fit Roubaix tyres they'll feel great but probably wont be as reliable on bad roads. Lighter tyres tend to be thinner and softer tyres tend to cut up. If you're riding for 8hrs+ I'd suggest a compromise that means you don't have to carry more than a couple of tubes.

Probably go for carbon forks as thats what rourke sell them with. Modern shimano or sram groupset.
Probably Shimano as the hoods are a bit bigger. Undecided on if I should get new 105 or used Ultegra.

That Rourke is bloody fantastic, decent price too! How are you going to build it up?

Lol! Whats even worse is they don't make em anymore, and nobodie seems to have the 28s in stock. :D

I thought the Roubaix tyres were meant for bad cobblestone roads!
The Conti 4 Seasons haven't punctured since I put them on, roughly 6 months ago, and they're only 250g.
Although I do tend to run tyres at a lower pressure - about 60-70/70-80 front/back, which could be part of why they haven't punctured.
I always have a puncture repair kit and spare tube with me, but still working upto 8hr rides.

well they're fucking great! I abuse the crap out of them and they still perform great.

Starting to toy with the idea of running 25s instead...
I'd have tons more choice, I have rims with an internal bead to bead of 20mm, so would still have increased volume, and have tried a 25c tyres with these rims in the past, so I know it would work.
Bugger, this is annoying me now.
If anyone is near Ed, can they tell him to get back to me!
Yeah, and GP4000s are faster than standard GPs with at least the same puncture resistance. If you're not too bothered about the puncture resistance the Vittoria Diamante Pro Radiale is faster still and fewer monies.
