integrated forks sometimes have a race built in, that you just drop a steel cover on, rather than a traditional crown race on a flat crown. Some trad headsets work, some don't AFAIK.

I wonder if the embedding will work. Rather ratty phone picture on the way into work this morning...
Taken ages to build this, but managed it just in time for the nice weather (and a work sportive on Friday...:)) It's a mid 90's frame I picked up from Hilary Stone last summer - assume it's the original paint as the Roberts name are decals rather than in the paint as they currently are.
The seat position is a little high and I may need to change to the layback Thomson. I've been riding my tourer until this morning, and despite the position not being quite right it felt incredibly quick in comparison.
I've got a carbon / ahead fork that I'll probably switch to in the longer term as the headset and quill adapter look a little bulky, although the steel forks look quite pretty. It would probably also benefit from a black chainset and I'm not entirely convinced I like the white tape. I'd also quite like to put some gumwall tyres on - whats the consensus on the best ones at the minute (I won't put the BLB ones on!)

I never had too much trouble with Paselas, and the new ones apparently have improved puncture protection too.
It's a really nice build, I like the white tape as well, but silver post and stem could also work well I think.

It look fairly steep, if you have a modern saddle that you get on well with, it might be worth putting that on as modern saddle have a longer railing than old saddle allowing you to set it back a bit more.
I think you might need a little more layback than the Thomson's offering I'm afraid.
1+ on the Paselas, decent all-round tyres.

Thanks - it really jars me that the chainset is silver and the rest of the parts are black - I get upset about these kinds of things! It would look nice with silver parts, but that would mean replacing them all to sate my ocd... Thanks for the tyre recommendation, I'll take a look.
The frame is probably a centimetre too small, but it was so pretty I thought I'd risk it.
The saddle is set probably an inch too high in the picture, so I'm a little shorter than it's indicating and it's actually got more rail available but the Thomson clamp is a bit chunky to let me use it. It's a good call trying a different saddle - I'd prefer to keep the Concor if I can though. I'll faff around with a Ritchey style seatpost that should allow more adjustment before deciding.

Project Bryan the Bumblebee continues. Been riding it alot, did 50+ Yorkshire miles on it yesterday, only negative being I burnt through the Maxxis Dentonator just when I thought it could be the answer to the cheap and durable skidder tyre. Not enough rubber on it....
Was debating fitting the 49t 75 chainring I have to see if it classies it up a bit, but just going to wait till the black 75s I've got to arrive then will experiment...

Why use another tyre when the Gator logo matches Bryans paint so well?!
Seriously nice bike that, a 75 ring could finish it beautifully.

Considering selling my R-Sys Slrs, although not sure if there'd be much interest here?
Wanting some Ultegra 6800 -

So, Ryan at oak had a go at figuring out whats wrong with my seat tube on the alan today
turns out the seat tube is for 27.0 posts but someone tried to run a cheap 27.2 tap in and slightly warped the seattube in doing so,
tldr; safe but will have to cut down all seatposts longer than 240mm

^Pretty sure that's what someones done with my new frame... bloody brillaint, paid over the odds too... oh well!
Tried a 27 in it and I think it'll tighten back up... had a melt down over chrome wheels earlier today and off to pick up some dark grey rimmed wheels for this and have a 3TTT seatpost to match the 3TTT Pista stem in the post.
Less a pub bike, more a smug Cafe bike which at my age is about as wild as it gets...Worst iPhone photo ever...

^^^ Cheeeeeers guys... not sure of the track ends, they do look like Zeus but aren't stamped, odd for an Italian builder to use Spanish track ends (maybe?) but Viner appeared to? It looks bare metal in the pic but is infact a gross metallic silver, was going to paint it white but not sure I can reallly be bothered...

... Gators are crap front tyres innit! stiff and not very grippy... That Bontrager on the front must've done 4-5000 miles now and needs replacing, just trying to decide on something with good puncture protection, good ride feel, good weight and reasonable price.
Edinburgh bike have folding grand prix for £21.99 which is tempting as I'm liking the wire bead grand prix on my road bike.

GP4000s, Grand Prixs are shit

conti ultras are 13 quid in tfg at the moment.
good rolling front tyre. -
• #77574
I have ultras on the rack and trying to avoid them.
GP4000s are expensive.. Upsidedown have you ridden both? The grand prix are hella better than gators at least.
