  • and a longer stem can't solve that because..?

Because a 150mm stem seems a bit extreme to me :-)

  • Bought a slightly damaged Colnago Pista where the tt and dt had been slightly bent in a collision. No creases or anything but you can see it's a bit bent. Has anyone used the Park Tool HTS-1 or any diy things to straighten a frame to the orig state? This is a picture of the hts-1 from yesteryears. The tubes are of Columbus SL so no air hardened steel that might crack. Doable?

Take it to a framebuilder to get the damaged analysed, but it's still best to repaired it rather than do that.

generally, if the tubes are bent enough to have ripples in, they can't be bent back without cracking. It's a tube replacement job, just like Oak Cycles did here

    ahh...

    :p

Quite hard to source esa columbus sl tubes.
I'm quite confident that it can be bent back to it's original state after googling a bit on the subject. As I mentioned there are no creases nor bulging.
I'll have a local framebuilder take a look at it and do the job if he reckons it's worth it.

It's quite a rare frame this and I want to get it back to it's former shine and I'm hoping it'll work.

Here's some hi-res pics. The bike used to belong to forumer Fruit. Great dude to deal with actually.

  • It wouldn't happen to be the frame of his that the wheel touched the downtube and sent him over the bars would it?

    Might be...tell me more.

  • grand job. looks great........ mudguards?

  • ahh...

    :p

Just imagine my proportions not so much like a T Rex, but a bit more like this ;-)

  • Gun metal grey bars when the seatpost and stem are shiny shiny silver?

    I just can't decide.

Been looking for Cinelli 65s, these are a similar shape, but the colour is throwing me.

Is changing o a black stem and seatpost an option?

IMO you only need 2 out of the 3 to match anyway.

  • anyone got one of these?

A mate's got one and he loves it. He's taken it all over too. It's a great alrounder.

But the I'm a fan of most Condors... lovely classy bikes, great quality, good selection. Just usually a bit pricey when compared to the competition.

  • How does it ride psee?

Havent ridden it much yet but so far it feels really good.

    Lovely. Is that the 57cm?

Nope. It's the 55cm. I'm 183 (~6ft) and with 120mm stem it fits me quite well.

nice - what seatpost is that?

    It's a sanded 'Hylix'.

Isn't that just the shape of the gilco tubing?

    ;)

  • Look for some reasonably priced silver rims to put 35mm tyres on, probably 36 spoke, what do you guys recommend?

  • It's quite a rare frame this and I want to get it back to it's former shine and I'm hoping it'll work.

Get it repaired, or leave it till you can afford the repair work, I don't think simply bending the frame back is a solution let alone a good one.

  • don't argos use columbus? they told me they did

  • Look for some reasonably priced silver rims to put 35mm tyres on, probably 36 spoke, what do you guys recommend?

Only 35, or up to 35, or 35 plus? If you're not going over 35mm, Rigida Sputniks or these rebadged Rodi rims.

IMO you only need 2 out of the 3 to match anyway.

  • Sorry I should have added more info.

I plan to run 35c most of the time but would like to be able to go up to 45c occasionally and down to 28 if necessary.

  • Fitted new chainset to Duratec this evening

(Aero Mighty NJS with DA ring)
Already regretting cheap tyres (only built bike at Easter) - so I invested in a Rando- surprised at how easily it fits the frame.

  • Anybody know how much the chainring might be worth?

  • See them going second hand in the US for about $50.

  • Sorry I should have added more info

Such as what kind of brakes you have. Not that it makes much difference, most of the attractive wider disc rims are not available in either 36h or silver.
