And before anyone states the obvious I am wrapping the tape as tight as I can!
That wasn't the obvious comment.
Use proper tape. Benotto always was and always will be shit.

Innit, it adds zero comfort and is completely incompatiable with my gloves (super slippy!!) Maybe it should be reserved for wallhangers and show bikes for evermore.

Dropout is looking like this and when i removed wheel to double check for any cracks in frame this dropped out http://s1139.photobucket.com/user/Thomas_David_Slater/media/IMG_0775.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0
so looks like wheel was over tightened which may well have been causing the clicking sound I mentioned on last page. Seems like a bit of a schoolboy error but i normally tighten wheel as much as poss on a track bike to avoid chain slip of death!!

in terms of Benotto I wrapped mine from bottom to top over the finishing plugs and then secured with insulating tape at the clamp area - no slipping problems .
just my 2p, not using it anymore as it wasn't comfortable but I still think it looks sick especially on you're Woodrup

The nut/washer biting into the pain isn't a sign you've over-tightened. Always happens, no? Particularly if paint is recent and not fully-hardened.

Chain tugs FTW. My wheels stay put under the awesome power of M6 countersunk screws thanks to the chain tension being resisted by solid metal rather than mere friction.

Reckon this could cause a clicking /creaking sort of sound?
-
• #75710
i'd say... LBS found a cracked washer when i swapped to a gatorskin
bike was sounding creaky but it don't usually bother me as long as all my bolts are tight.

tbh, I'd rather blame bb for that

double sided sellotape?
or use cloth tape?

...everytime i sprint with my hands in the 'on the hoods' position i get this.
Why are you not in the drops? Always sprint in the drops bro!
You've taped the bars in the direction that keeps it tight (if ridden properly – in the drops).
Failing that you can bodge it with spraymount or double sided tape.
Love the renovation BTW.

Actually it looks like you've taped it from the stem out?
:-/

Redo the tape, end of drop inward, then finish it off with self amalgamating tape.
Then simply wrap over the top of that with a decent bar tape and hope it all holds together.

Pretty sure you tape benotto from the bars out? I always have and never had any probs? Tape it so as you pull on the bars it tightens? Might of missed something...

Ah. Oops. Carry on.

Feeling a little sad today. Noticed a very slight ripple on the down tube of my Woodrup. Decided to remove the paint around the area, it has a very slight bulge. No crack, nothing on the top tube, forks are not bent and headset spins freely. Has anyone got an opinion? Has it been front ended? Safe to ride?

Has it been front ended?
Safe to ride?[/b]- I'd say it definitely has.
- Probably, but the geo will be out and it will definitely bug you now you know about it. P'raps see about getting it jigged?
- I'd say it definitely has.

I bought and built this up recently, have just spent a lovely weekend riding in the Norfolk countryside and it's fantastic. It's far beyond my needs, but it's so much fun to ride, I didn't want to come home. The bars probably need tilting down a bit, then the steerer cut but I'm going to ride it a little more so I'm 100% sure before I break out the saw.

actually isn't it edgeenvy, these are a few years old?
the wheels are reynolds shadow http://www.probikekit.com/uk/components/wheels/road-wheels/reynolds-shadow-clincher-wheelset.html
Or chuck the benotto in the bin and get proper tape :p
