:(
Why the trouble with gear adjustment? Where is your default straight chainline? It should be somewhere near the middle of the block when on the big ring.
It's something worth figuring out for yourself, in the long run. If you need a hand I wouldn't mind.
Not looked but the frames 130 spacing, sram cassette and sram gxp cranks so there shouldn't be any problems...
Im going to take it back tomorow and see what happens, if that fails I will seek the help of the forum. (cheers whatok)

Set your mechs up yourself Rogan. You'll have to learn it yourself at some point. Park Tools website is good and I remember indexing being made a lot simpler when I was told the order in which to do things – High gear 1st etc.
This sounds like an issue at the front though. Is the front mech limit set too high? i.e. is the front mech overshifting, pushing the chain off?

Yup. I did think it was an odd system.
The one I took off looked like this:

I can see the new bolt threads are stripped a bit... but how do I replace/repair that bolt. Also, what model is the new one?

It's always worth getting the mechanic to go through everything they've done to the bike, saying how things were, and showing how they now are. Good bike shops should do this anyway. Small bikes shops are the best because you get the same wrench each time so you know who to bribe with biscuits/weed.
Assuming your frame and chainring are straight it sounds like it could be your front mech. Here's a link for how to set that up.

Fancy a change. Yey or Ney? With black plugs doe obv.
Be open-minded. I thought since my groupset, rims and cabling were grey I could get away with it.
Worth a punt? -

Didn't wanna start a new thread, 'cos I don't have a project yet. I would like to pick your more knowledgeable brains though.
You're looking for a frame to build up, budget up to approx £300 for the frame + forks. What would you be looking at?
(I've been looking for Merckx, Colnago etc at the moment, missed out on a Dave Llyod ... but this forum is opening my eyes to some really nice stuff, so thought it might be worth asking).

Pretty much what I did, I'm sure its worth it for riding reasons, porn not so much.
I rode the alan to work this morning and it just felt shit, I don't know why, it just felt awful,
Some fitting issues, and something was making a metal 'twanging' type noise while riding on semi rough patches, brakes felt shit and were squeeking too
fucksticks.

repairing and painting this frame for the mrs's birthday.... 2 reasonable dents on top and DT... Need to wait for the filler to set, the another layer filler and onto finishing and paint.

You can probably get something quite nice for that. I personally keep an eye on Roberts frames on ebay and nice stuff for that kind of money are quite doable.

Cheers. Seeing what people's preferences and tastes are is good, just means I can learn more about frames/builders that I didn't know of previously. And see what's in my budget.
Have had my eyes opened to NJS and Koga Miyata just in these last few days. So there's loads of good stuff I'm not aware of.

NJS for 300. I wish.

Just said I'd become aware of them, not that I could afford one :)
